Cornerstone Dog Training

I apologize now for the long post but I have a lot to say. My dog is an Australian Shepherd / German Shepherd mix names Zeppelin. He’s a big 90 lb boy who has high anxiety when he sees other dogs and starts acting very aggressive. It started at about 9 months old and I wasn’t sure how to handle it so I stopped taking him places. This caused it to get worse and he was stuck in my house all the time. He has always been so stubborn and if he didn’t want to do something, he wouldn’t. Finally at 2 yrs old I decided I needed to get some help with him. I knew I wasn’t giving him the life he deserved. I found Cornerstone Dog Training and had a consult with them. I met with Jason and immediately had the confidence I needed to start training. Ruby was our trainer and she was amazing! She gave me all of the tools and showed me exactly what to do during our sessions. She gave me a clear layout of what I needed to do with him each week to make it a successful training. I finished training two months ago and everyone that knows Zeppelin has complimented how good of a dog he is and how he has done a complete 180 with his obedience. During training I lost confidence a few times because he seemed to digress. I would send her messages while in tears because I didn’t feel like it was working. She was more than happy to talk me through anything that was going on and explain what could be causing the issues and she was always right of course! I’m so impressed and happy with our results. Although he still is struggling with other dogs (this is going to take a lot of time and work), I know we will eventually get there. Luckily for us they have free group classes after training to keep things going. The first group class we went to after training was a struggle for us. He was barking and lunging at the other dogs. I was so anxious the whole time. Jason stepped in and showed me what to do on the spot and by the end of the hour, Zeppelin was walking along side other dogs which is a HUGE win for us. I cried the entire way home because I never thought that was something we would be able to do. We are absolutely going to be continuing group classes and I am fully confident that he will be able to be around other dogs with no issues in the near future. I can’t recommend Cornerstone enough to anyone who is struggling with ANY issues with their dog. I can actually take my boy camping and hiking and to hang out with friends. His life is substantially better and you can see how much happier he is! I’m so grateful for everything Jason, Ruby and the crew have done for us!

We were going to get rid of our dog but then we heard about Cornerstone. It was worth every penny and every minute! Our hyper border collie is now well behaved and we can take her anywhere with us. We’re so grateful for the one-on-one attention and for the constant communication. Cornerstone helped us bond with our dog and we are all in love and can’t imagine our home without her! If we ever get another pup, we will for sure be contacting Cornerstone again!

I cannot recommend Cornerstone enough. My dog has been to two other trainers over the last 4 years I have had him - one for group and one for individual - and while he learned things, he made nowhere near the progress he did with Ruby and Austin at Cornerstone. My dog was extremely anxious and reactive to other dogs, cars, bikes, etc and it made for an anxious dog owner as well. We rarely took walks and while I would never get rid of him, it was exhausting having such an anxious dog. We started off with a temperament test with the owner, Jason. He stated he felt the 9 week individual classes would be best for Eli. I was shocked at the price but I felt it was an investment that we absolutely needed and after finishing the 9 weeks today, I would have paid way more. I would have paid more after the first day. All of the tools used were included as well as monthly group classes once the 9 weeks are finished. The e-collar has been an amazing way to communicate and he is following commands even when he is Not wearing it. We have always had a strong bond but it is incredible now. I have now taken him to busy stores such as Cabelas and Lowes mid day on a Saturday! One of the classes is a field trip with your trainer to a store. And he laid next to me or walked at my heel the whole time. I used to barely be able to take him out the front door with his 50 lbs self dragging me down the street and now he doesn't even pull when he isn't in his "heel" command. We will continue to socialize him with other dogs at the group classes and even with that being a work in progress he is SO MUCH CALMER. The trainers at Cornerstone have incredible knowledge and believe in the program, some having gotten started training because of it working for their aggressive dog. I can't wait to see how Eli progresses now that he has graduated to the group classes. Thank you so much Ruby, Austin, and Jason!
