Courteous K9

We really learned so much at Foundations 1. We found out our dog is pretty smart when we have the right information. My only complaint is the online classes which are necessary during the training but aren’t automatically suspended after. It costs $25 a month/no refunds until you go through the website escape room looking for clues on how to unsubscribe… It seems like an unfair way to make $. I even called to cancel but was only told to go to FAQs to find my answers. We love the trainers and knowledge they have. They just need more transparency on the online training.

We had a wonderful experience with Courteous K9! We attended both Puppy 1 and Puppy 2 classes with Jess, and the results have been amazing. Our puppy is now well-mannered, responsive, and a joy to be around. What's especially impressive is that my parents have our dog's littermate, and it's easy to see the difference the training has made. The skills and good behavior we learned in class are clearly evident in our puppy's everyday interactions. We recently had a Rover dog sitter watch our 6-month-old puppy, and they even commented on how well-behaved she is—such a great testament to the training and consistency we've built through these classes. Jess was knowledgeable, supportive, and made the classes both enjoyable and effective. We highly recommend Courteous K9 to anyone looking to give their dog a strong foundation. We're looking forward to returning for e-collar training and additional classes in the future!

Update: As I have previously mentioned, I am a pet professional in the area. Since my last review, I have had 3 dogs clients that were supposedly trained by Courteous K9 and the 3 dogs are far from trained. In fact, the 2 oldest ones have terrible anxiety. These two were trained with e-collars. There are significant problems with leash walking that I’m trying to correct so I can do my job. The third is still a puppy but after a handful of sessions with courteous K9, the puppy is still doing the terrible behaviors and has not learned any commands, not even sit. This particular dog is in the daycare training and the dog is sent home with a report card instead of taking the time to work with the owners on how to work with their dog at home. The recommendations were to “cut his nails”. While that’s important, there was no “continue to work at home on training sit”. Training a dog requires training the owner too. I have found out from other pet professionals in the area that they have seen similar issues with their clients. AVOID THIS FACILITY Original: Courteous K9 has a TikTok account. On one of the videos in the past, I have seen a dog wearing an electronic collar. Something I don’t believe in for my dog. They recently posted a video where dogs were picking up toys and placing them in a bowl. I have been looking for a training facility that does fear free positive reinforcement training to increase my dog’s skills. I honestly don’t know anything about Courteous K9 besides where they are located. I asked on the video “Is Courteous K9 a fear free training facility?” (Again because I have seen past videos of dogs wearing electronic collars). With sass and sarcasm, they responded back with “Nope, Can’t you see the fear in over half the dogs who have been e-collared trained in this video?” It is very common knowledge that some trainers or training facilities have misrepresented themselves online and in turn have not been good places. I was asking a simple question as a potential new client to start the process of obtaining information about this place. Coming back with such response is poor customer service. Yet, they are supposed to be about “teaching humans” according to their TikTok bio. Thanks for proving you don’t actually care about “teaching humans”. I don’t only own a dog but I’m also a pet professional in the community as well. I will never refer any of my clients to Courteous K9 and share this experience of mine with them.
