We filled out the questionnaire and Stephenie responded via email saying she could help remedy the relationship we had with our French Bulldog who has resource guarding issues at home. When we got to class, it was clear Stephenie does not have the proper knowledge to train aggressive Brachycephalic breeds, including our French Bulldog. Firstly, I want to note that our dog is not aggressive in the sense that she lunges and bites for no reason. She is possessive of her food (including her bowl) as well as reactive towards the vacuum, broom, and paper towels (when cleaning floor messes). She will greet everyone, but is in need of manners (e.g. not jumping on people for attention). With that said, classes went well before Stephenie started working with her triggers. Once she began sticking things in our dog’s face, our dog began reacting. She told the class that dog’s learned best in a state of stress, and it was clear she was putting our dog through total distress. Our dog began panting, her face was red, and her eyes were bloodshot. To make a long story short, Stephenie continued working with our dog in this state. Our dog thrashed around and threw herself on her hind legs, trying to get out of her grip. Stephenie tugged the lead and our dog was flipped onto her back, causing her to hit her head on the hard cement. Our dog left class that night with a raised bump on her head. She also recommended a prong collar… Brachycephalic breeds should NOT: 1. Be treated with force that they are caused to flip on their backs. The French Bulldog breed is predisposed to spinal injuries and diseases. This was unacceptable. 2. Wear prong or choke collars, ever! Frenchies are predisposed to breathing issues and trachea collapses. This puts extreme pressure on the delicate necks of the frenchie and when used with force, can cause extreme injuries. We really needed Stephenie’s help, but we will not put our dog in harms way. No dog deserves to be injured in the process of training, and confronting a reactive dog with tactics that only increase fear and insecurity is not the training approach we would like to take. We will be taking our dog elsewhere where training is focused on positive reinforcement.

High quality dog training for a reasonable price. As a 9-5 full time employee, I appreciate the after work hour dog training times that are offered throughout the week. I took my dog to puppy class here, thinking it was the only class I'd do with my puppy, BUT loved it so much, I've continued to come back for other obedience and Agility classes. Love the quality of service provided and the vibes! 5/5 stars for sure!!!
