Good for obedience training but tougher behavior issues might be beyond their scope of practice. There is a lot to this experience even before Crystal Clear Canine was involved. Which I will give a brief summary along with other pertinent information. This experience ended as a worst case scenario. -I'm not a perfect trainer by any means but I did work hard! -Owner of a Female German Shep/Pyrenees mix (1 1/2) very sociable -Rescued 9month Female Pyrenees from family with extreme abusive training tactics/ideals. With known aggressive behavior. -Gave her the love and attention and care she should have gotten. (She was comfortable with myself, wife, parents and their dog) Any stranger, visitor, other dog that did not interact with her on a daily basis was seen as threat to which she would aggressively bark and lunge toward. -Requested/Received help from local dog daycare owner with extensive history with animal and exotic animal care. Black listed after two socialization attempts after patron had concerns. -Attempted socialization on our own, with family. -Dogs got in fight with each other, breaking up fights resulted in receiving dogs bites (1 mild, 2 minor). (We have had her for Appox- 9 months) Acquiring Professional Help: Crystal Clear Canine Academy (CCCA) -What I will say. I believe CCCA is very passionate about helping dogs and training. I had very minimal experience working with Crystal throughout the entire process. -CCCA was the only one to return my call amidst the early onset of Covid to which I'm grateful. The Service:Contracted Board and Train 28 days. The Cost: $4,250.00 -We were looking for intensive 1 on 1 intervention with our dog to focus on the aggressive behavior she had. The day was set for her to be dropped off early July 2020. -20 minutes after we had left our dog in their care we received a phone call. "We need you to come get your dog.", I can't explain the confusion, panic, stress, and the sinking feeling of my heart that moment as the hope I had for helping my dog began to fade away. -I understand their reasoning as it was a safety concern for them when our dog was so afraid that she rather fight then flight or submit. -Despite all circumstances, they suggested that private lessons might be more beneficial to work at a slower places. I was Desperate and was trying to hold on to any help/hope I could get. -A new contract: 6-Month Companion Wellness Program (advanced Private Lesson Focus) Cost: $4,250.00 that includes 12, one hour private lessons. and mid week phone calls for any concerns. over the course of 6-month with access to other resources like online videos, and facebook group with others who are special training. -It's impossible to come to a conclusion that the two different contracts were equal in value just based on the time. 12 hours of private lessons vs 28days of professional training. -While they strongly encouraged use in their private facebook group and to post concerns/videos/get support through their group. How do you go about saying your dog was so aggressive you were asked to pick her up after only having her for 20 minutes. Like wise any open training sessions they may have offered for free was also over an hour drive, and with an aggressive dog would have been irresponsible of us to risk next to others. Generally impractical (for us). -While the private lessons did give us good calming skills and some general obedience. The main focus was working with our pyrenees. -This continued, for the next 6 months. To make a long story shorter, for a variety reasons; potential for kids on the way, close calls with bites, potential legal implication if someone did get bit, trying to rehome her would've be irresponsible. No Kill shelter requested $1,300 upfront and $1,200 for each year of her stay. CCCA officaily recommended euthannasia, including sending us a liability waiver if we didn't. -I do not blame CCCA for their choices/decisions. -I do not believe CCCA are Behavioral Specialist they claim. -I made a choice for my family and am heartbroken I couldn't do more.
