Came to DDS in 2009 knowing nothing about agility except "that looks like fun" with my mixed breed dog, and have had nothing but the best experience from pre-agility to advanced classes. I now have 3 dogs who have trained at DDS - the first two now have their championship titles and then some, my third is just moving from starter to advanced. But really, it is the handler (me) who really needs the training and the DDS instructors are in my opinion excellent at teaching and coaching the handling aspects of the sport, and helping you maximize the potential of your individual dog - not all dogs being equal. And the facility is beautiful and first rate. Check out the web site for more info. (p.s. I also thought the review saying "they only care about border collies and aussies" was bizarre. My dogs are not the "hot shot" breeds that excel but I have NEVER felt I got any less help and attention. Of course there are a lot of BC's and Aussies in the sport but you will find all kinds of other breeds training at DDS without being treated as second rate.)

The negative review I just read here about DDS simply amazes me. And not in a good way!!! To begin with the owner has not only a border collie but a miniature poodle that is in training for agility! I have been a student with my dog, a Cocker Spaniel mix, for 2 years. I started classes with a second dog, a pb Cocker, about a year ago. My experience with EVERY instructor and the facility itself has been nothing but wonderful! My pre-agility instructor was/is extremely patient and at the same time honest with people about general traits of each breed. It is reality that a beagle is going to react differently to agility exercises than a great dane!!! If someone is told that they need to be aware of trait A,B or C, or that perhaps extra attention should be spent on training something specific at home rather than be offended and say rude things they should take into consideration the instructors experience and years spent doing what they do! People get out of dog training what they put into it...the dogs don't train themselves because we show up at a class one hour a week. The facility of DDS has extensive equipment kept in very good condition, the grounds themselves are well kept. The instructors are more than willing to give personal attention where needed and every one of them keep their classes in order, especially for beginning dogs where there is a higher probability of reactive dogs not used to being in in these situations. If there is any doubt about the ability of the trainers at DDS, or the wide expanse of breeds trained, go to the website and look through the ring of honor listings...that speaks for itself! I love DDS. The programs there have enriched my life and the lives of my dogs. Thank you, DDS!!
