Designing Dogs

Alan has been wonderful since my family started working with him. He personally chose our German Shepherd puppy for us and has helped us train her the entire way. I have had dogs my entire life and he has been so patient teaching me personally, my wife, and twins children how to become better handlers. Bottom line is he is brilliant and is generous enough to share his knowledge and connection to dogs with his clients.

Alan has trained my grandparents’ dog, my parents’ dog, my sister’s dog, and now both of mine. He’s a little family gem that we pass down to each other! In addition, it’s something that my 6 year old daughter and I do together, and that’s invaluable to me - it gives her an understanding of dedication, perseverance, goal setting, executing in a public setting, and success (of course!) to name only a few of the positive outcomes! It’s quite a natural way of instilling confidence in her that will not only prepare her for it, but stick with her throughout her life! Alan trains the trainer, not the dog - and the process of working with your dog so closely to achieve well placed milestones builds a bond that I never even dreamed to be possible! If you want your dogs out there livin’ their best life, you want to call Alan!

I know I have a FEAR aggressive dog. He is great with people he knows, he just needed help with his FEAR of strangers. We had our consultation with Alan and he demonstrated how the choke collar works and feels when used properly. 3rd lesson in Alan leaves the room and comes back in and Hondo woofs at him. Alan said "correct that!" So I give tugs on the leash saying "no" as taught. Alan comes toward Hondo acting like he's going to grab him, Hondo barks louder. Alan keeps it up until Hondo is at a full out barking pulling on the leash in his fear aggressive mode. I thought ok, here is where we work on his problem. Alan attaches a second leash to Hondo and continues to taunt him. Tells me to drop my leash. He picks leash up until the choke chain is hanging my dog. Only Hondo's back toes are touch the ground. He drops him to the ground and grabs both ears and picks Hondo up, again drops him. Grabs him by the skin at his neck and lifts him up and again drops him. Then grabs the back belly area and lifts him sideways off the ground. During this horrible experience my dog just looked so scared and never ever made a move to bite this jerk!! This so called professional! When Alan got done Alan was all sweat! Hands me Hondo's leash and said yep, he's not aggressive! WHAT??!!! We knew he wasn't aggressive! My dog was afraid of people and after your horrible handling, he probably always will be! An animal behavorise is a Veterinarian that goes on for more schooling to learn the behavior of animals. Alan Finn is not an animal behaviorist. He is just someone who has learned how to get results from jerking, hanging, choking an animal and getting them to act like puppets. 👎👎 Think twice before you go!
