Dog Basics PDX

We had two Frenchies, they were pals and out of the blue decided they would rather kill each other. They couldn’t be in the same room. Timothy came over and worked with us and showed up what we needed to do, how we needed to do it and it worked. With the training Timothy gave us and our dogs, the two are pals again! I honestly didn’t expect them to ever be alone together in a room again. Thanks again Timothy!

What a gem Timothy is! We connected with him to do foundational puppy training for our German Shepherd when she was a few months old. At that time, we worked on basic dog socialization and manners as she was starting to get out in the world. When she started going on walks and parks, she was showing some fear around other dogs and soon started struggling with confidence. She would pull, lunge, bark, and growl any time she saw another dog on a leash, making it impossible and daunting to take her out. Timothy helped us pivot from focusing exclusively on manners to getting the reactivity under control before it got worse. His knowledge about dogs, especially as it relates to reactivity and fear, is invaluable. Every week, he has worked with us to understand what was driving her reactivity and what tools and skills we could help her build so she was able to manage her big feelings on walks. Fast forward four months: we just took our pup to the park and came across another dog who started lunging and barking at her and she didn't react at all -- just kept sniffing and walking. She's come so far and I never thought we would get to a place where walking her would be stress free, and we owe it all to the support and encouragement Timothy has given us throughout this process. Now back to basic manners training ...

Who knew 1 hr could change the trajectory of a dog and human’s life. Timothy, was so kind and knowledgable, and met me in my home the very next day. Before our consultation/training today, I went from thinking I was going to need to rehome my recently rescued pup because of excessive biting and behavioral issues, to being shown how I could have the best dog possible. Most days, I couldnt wait until she went to bed and dreaded waking in the morning. For the first time, I am excited about what we will learn and do tomorrow and the next day. I now know what I need to do, and can show my pup what she needs to do, with confidence instead of tears and anxiety! I cannot recommend Timothy enough, to anyone that just needs some guidance with their dog. Im pretty sure, dog and I will sleep better than we have in many months. And for the record, I have not had one single bite; since our meeting this morning. Timothy and Dog Basics is life changing— for both dog and human.

We recently had some issues with our puppy and we were fortunate to have Timothy help us work them out. Our dog was barking at visitors and going through a typical puppy landshark phase, which included biting my son's ear twice. Timothy really saved the day and was able to teach us how to communicate to our puppy that these behaviors were unwanted in a completely gentle way. It was amazing how quickly his technique worked without traumatizing a puppy who was just doing typical puppy things.
