About Dog's Best Friend

Dogs Best Friend Services Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Maitland, Winter Park, Lake Mary, Sanford, Orlando and surrounding areas. For over 30 years, I have worked with all different breeds to rehabilitate behavior and obedience issues. Also, and even more importantly, trained the humans to communicate their message in a language the dog understands. A happy dog is one who learns rules, boundries, structure, limitations, discipline, and has a strong, consistent and loving human pack leader.

Questions & answers

What people have asked about this business.

Should I be the Alpha dog by using brute force?

Absolutely not! The most powerful pack leaders are the ones that say and do the least. The way to gain control over your dog is to use calm relaxed quiet energy. Less is more. Besides, people who think they should “alpha role” their dog usually wind up getting bitten or scratched, or worse hurt their dog physically. There are much better ways to be your dog’s “Alpha” leader. Respect is what is lacking here. You can gain your dog’s respect by using calm, relaxed energy instead of brute force.

Question on Google
Why is my dog showing aggression toward people or other dogs?

Most times it's because they were not socilized when they were young. Also, they were never shown how they are supposed to act by the humans in their life. your dog may be nervous, axious, fearfull, uncertain, insecure. All these will trigger aggresion. For example, barking, growling, lunging at guests when they come in the house. Your dog isn't sure what they're supposed to do when the doorbell rings and you open the door. That uncertainty could be the cause. The dog doesn't know what to do so they go back to a primal state which is to bark growl etc. I teach people how to communicate with their dog so they know how to greet with a calm state of mind. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call anytime.

Question on Google
He doesn't like scissors or the sound of the shaving machine, can you help?

One must ALWAYS make dogs face their fears. It's the only way to get past it.

Our dog Kai is a Maltese–Poodle mix (Maltipoo). She is very loving and affectionate, but she had developed some challenging behaviors — being overly protective of the house, barking at people and dogs passing by, and sometimes acting as if she “owned the house.” We realized we needed help establishing better structure and boundaries. Paul Pipitone from Dog’s Best Friend Behavioral Rehabilitation & Obedience Training (aka Dog’s Best Friend) was fantastic. Paul isn’t just a dog trainer — he’s really a dog psychologist. Instead of relying on tricks or treats, he focuses on calm leadership, clear boundaries, and helping owners better understand their dogs. Within just one session we already noticed a difference in both Kai’s behavior and in how we relate to her. My wife and I were so impressed that we jokingly gave him a nickname — “Saint Paul.” His calm, common-sense approach truly works. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a calmer, more balanced relationship with their dog. 🐕

Paul was super helpful in teaching us how to better understand our dogs’ point of view and how we as the owners can better communicate with them. We’re excited to continue using these commands and resources to get ours dog’s reactivity under control!

Paul is wonderful! Very knowledgeable and gives you easy to follow action plans. We saw a difference in our 6 month old puppy after just the 2 hours, and we feel confident that we can build on it. Would highly recommend Paul! Wish we would have found him sooner!

I don't know where to start, but Paul is the truth. My dog Oreo has some behavioral issues with whining, excessive energy, and destructive behavior at times. I met with multiple trainers before Paul, all said the same thing: Oreo needs more exercise, or an e-collar, or wanted thousands for a board and train program. All Oreo needed was structure and guidance, and that is what Paul offered. In two hours, Paul addressed all my concerns and issues and gave me the knowledge I needed to work successfully with him. From the moment Paul stepped in and started working with Oreo, I saw a major difference. He went from whining and jumping to being quiet, peaceful, and calm. When we went outside and started the heel process, I thought I was looking at a brand-new dog, it was a complete 180 from the walk we had that morning. After that day, Paul was there to answer my questions and to check in on Oreo's progress and was even willing to meet again to help me. Overall, choosing Paul was the best decision for me and Oreo. He has changed the relationship I have with Oreo for the better. I see it, and others around me see it as well. My neighbors all compliment Oreo on his progress on how far he's come in the month and a half since we started training. I added a video of him walking next to my other dog, something I could never get him to do without being distracted or trying to play.
