For over 30 years, I have worked with all different breeds to rehabilitate behavior and obedience issues. Also, and even more importantly, trained the humans to communicate their message in a language the dog understands. A happy dog is one who learns rules, boundries, structure, limitations, discipline, and has a strong, consistent and loving human pack leader.

Group lessons will be held at Dogtopia Doggie daycare on Some Saturday mornings throughout the month. Class size will be limited each week to insure plenty of time for one on one attention to each dog and owner.

Should I be the Alpha dog by using brute force?
Absolutely not! The most powerful pack leaders are the ones that say and do the least. The way to gain control over your dog is to use calm relaxed quiet energy. Less is more. Besides, people who think they should “alpha role” their dog usually wind up getting bitten or scratched, or worse hurt their dog physically. There are much better ways to be your dog’s “Alpha” leader. Respect is what is lacking here. You can gain your dog’s respect by using calm, relaxed energy instead of brute force.
Why is my dog showing aggression toward people or other dogs?
Most times it's because they were not socilized when they were young. Also, they were never shown how they are supposed to act by the humans in their life. your dog may be nervous, axious, fearfull, uncertain, insecure. All these will trigger aggresion. For example, barking, growling, lunging at guests when they come in the house. Your dog isn't sure what they're supposed to do when the doorbell rings and you open the door. That uncertainty could be the cause. The dog doesn't know what to do so they go back to a primal state which is to bark growl etc. I teach people how to communicate with their dog so they know how to greet with a calm state of mind. Paul helped us with our first puppy over 10 years ago and she is the BEST dog thanks to everything we learned from Paul. However, bringing a puppy home this summer rocked our world. With small kids in the mix and what quickly became a fearful, very high-energy new dog, we were out of our depth. My only regret is not calling Paul sooner! I am not kidding when I say that I opened the door to let Paul in and Scout (the dog he was there to meet) ran out the door, marked on the front porch, and then chased our elderly neighbor who was walking her dogs all the way to her house, nearly making it through her front door before I caught up to him. After I got Scout home, he proceeded to bark at Paul for a sustained period of time, which was his normal behavior around any guest we'd had. After that lovely first impression, it was crystal clear we needed HELP! :) Our family is still in the thick of doing the work but thanks to Paul we have the tools we were missing. Our walks with Scout are truly ENJOYABLE now. He's more relaxed and we have better boundaries set for him as a whole. Overall, I feel hope where before there was just frustration. Loving a dog means being a leader, and Paul has taught me that twice now. Thank you for your guidance and patience!

Paul came to our home to help us with our "Covid Puppy" that hasn't been able to have much socialization due to the pandemic. Paul went over the psychological and physical part of training our dog. It was very helpful to understand what our dog was thinking to be able to teach her in the correct way. Paul also went over some techniques to correct issues specific to our house like our dog chasing our cats and eating socks. Overall I think our training session was very helpful. I would recommend Paul for training a dog of any age.

Paul was an amazing teacher for me and trainer for the dogs. We recently brought in a new puppy and was worried about our older dog and her getting along. Paul was able to explain to me why his techniques work and why the human and dog minds are so very different. He helped with training both of my dogs individually as well as together. I think I got the most training out of it all which will really help the training process long term.

Thank you Paul. We adopted a rescued dog. She had several issues.Paul was fantastic. He stayed for two hours training us, not the dog. Once we learned how to behave the dog followed suit. He made the difference from us keeping the dog or returning her. He has also been supportive by phone when needed.
