Dog's Downtown

I was at the point of having to rehome my sweet dog. The thought of this was heartbreaking. He is wonderful dog in terms of being house trained and not chewing things in my place. And most of all a wonderful personality. BUT he was terrible on a leash. He pulled terribly. He also was infatuated with other dogs. I fell badly three times walking him when he would lunge at other dogs. He only wanted to play but i realized how dangerous this was for me. I had tried weekly training with a trainer but the progress was too slow. I would be in the hospital with broken bones before he was trained. I was very close to rehoming him. There was something I hadn't tried. I heard about two week board and train programs with great results. I researched and Dogs Downtown had great ratings and reasonable rates. Shortly after my consultation with a trainer there, Alexa, I started my dog in day training for two weeks. After the first 5 days i was showed what my dog learned and we went home for the weekend. He was so good on a leash I almost cried. I could keep him! Safely. The second week solidified what he had learned and furthered his discipline. He learned to do very important and difficult new things. He learned long "waits" while other dogs walked around him. Hard to imagine. He got lots of controlled playtime daily with other dogs which helped immeasurably. I can't recommend Dog Downtown enough.

Our family rescued a 2 year old Presa Cañero. It was discovered she was highly dog reactive. This reactivity was so intense it hindered all other training we attempted. She’s a smart and very physically strong dog. We hired another dog training company which didn’t fit our needs. At the point of considering the possibility of having to surrender her to the shelter (heartbreaking), we enrolled her in the three week board and train program. I cannot scream loud enough how amazing the results are!!! Our pup still has a way to go but Dogs Downtown provided a starting point where we are able to control the reactivity to build on all other things. She now waits in her kennel with the door open while we get her food ready and won’t come to get until we tell her. She also eats slowly and calmly. She doesn’t pull on the leash and hardly barks at other dogs. Yes, we still have work to do which is wholly expected. But, the work they did gave us the best start for success and now there is no more talk about her being anywhere but home. It was worth every dime spent and worthy investment for our family. Also, it helped us understand how to set successful boundaries for her AND for future dogs. In addition to the miracle we received, we also have unlimited access to group classes to keep our pup moving forward. Their program is 100% effective. I have always had dogs in my life and never had an issue training them. Sometimes you just need help. Dog Downtown will be my referral to all who need that help!
