Dog's Downtown

I’m sure that most of the trainers warrant all of these great reviews, but when I tried to schedule (fall of 2023) the only trainer that had availability was Clifton (Cliff) and it was a highly disappointing experience. I booked four sessions. When I arrived for the first he explained that since I didn’t bring the right leash — which nobody had mentioned to me before that moment — we couldn’t do any active training. So he spent the entire session giving my dog treats and talking to me. The next three sessions were all the same, we practiced walking back-and-forth and one single command ("leave it"). Cliff also discouraged me from letting my dog sniff during a walk, saying dogs are just looking for things to put in their mouth when they do that, which is such outdated thinking it’s laughable. The facility is well set up for training sessions, I’m sure it’s great if you get someone else.

I found Dogs Downtown after my doctor and I decided a service dog would benefit my life. I was not in a place where I could manage a new animal, let alone the training, myself and I am so grateful to Sophia, Alexa, and the other trainers that selected the puppy and trained my girl from puppyhood into my perfect partner in crime. She has given me my life back and the trainers were a big BIG part of that. Everyone at Dogs Downtown is very patient and understanding, to the humans and the animals. Do not hesitate to come to them with any of your dog training needs!

Cannot recommend Dog’s Downtown highly enough for training! We did a two week board and train for our three year old goldendoodle and are so impressed with everything he learned as well as the professionalism, communication, and ongoing commitment of the Dog’s Downtown staff, especially our trainer Sophia. The staff loved our pup like their own and sent many updates throughout his two week training and answered all of our questions before, during, and after the board and train. We look forward to coming back for future group training sessions!
