Dog Training Beyond

I run a large breed dog rescue, I have dealt with many situations over the years and many trainers. My overall take on trainers is that most truly don't know what they are doing and the dogs lose out because they can actually make a situation worse. Being in rescue I see the aftermath of these situations and so many dogs being tossed in shelters and being put to sleep because the trainer just tells the people the dog is untrainable. I've went to the quote/unquote best trainers and have traveled far to take some of my problem rescues to training and spent endless money and most times the dog had become worse. I am so glad I found Felix. Not only do I think he's an amazing trainer, but he has a heart of gold and truly loves animals. Being in my line of work, I get asked for recommendations all the time and where I used to say none are worth it, I now can say with confidence, even if you have to drive, HE'S WORTH IT.

NEVER USE DOG TRAINING BEYOND FOR YOUR CHOICE IN TRAINING YOUR DOG. Felix is an extremely unprofessional dog trainer. While I learned about engagement with my puppy and I learned about using a dremel instead of clippers for my pups nails, he fully took advantage of me being a new puppy owner and not knowing or quite understanding what I wanted and needed. 50% of all of my training sessions with him were him allowing and encouraging my puppy to jump up on him and saying how cute she was and absolutely nothing to do with teaching me or my puppy anything. He would repeatedly tell me “she’s too young to understand that or learn that” but things he was describing, my pup was already doing with me. Example: being attentive to only me when I put food or a toy down somewhere. Felix told me she was too young to have that type of engagement and wouldn’t understand it and therefore we couldn’t work on it. Except that, she’s been doing that exact thing with me since 10 weeks old (she’s 18 weeks now). He repeatedly assumed these types of things without even trying it with my pup. I kept saying she’s really quite smart and attentive, but he was too self assured and involved to even try with her. I also worked out a training plan outside of his normal training plans to fit and accommodate me moving out of state 2.5 months after starting work with him. This training plan included 10 sessions for $800 plus everything he offers in his 2nd tier plan but for a greater price than his 1st tier plan. After Felix had to cancel last week for a family emergency, he told me he would be in touch about rescheduling. One week later I had yet to hear from him. Not even to let me know that maybe he was still dealing with the emergency. Fully radio silent. I quickly not only realized that I was absolutely not a valued client of his in any capacity, but also that there would be no possible way to be able to fit in just 6 more sessions before I moved. Because we had worked out a plan outside of his normal offerings, I reached out and asked fairly if he would be willing to just downgrade what I had paid. He said he’d downgrade me to his 4 session plan and give me back the $100 difference... which, definitely doesn’t add up to the correct difference. But when I started asking questions, he chose to ignore me. Eventually after 5 days of continuing to reach out to him to answer a few questions for me, he continued to avoid them with passive aggressive responses and finally redirected me to his law office calling it his “disgruntled customer service line.” These are the questions I continued to ask that I wasn’t getting answers for: 1. How was 4 sessions only $100 less than the $800 I paid for 10 2. Could he send me the description sheet of his normal 3 tiers of training 3. When I would receive the refund he did in fact plan on sending me I called his lawyer because he gave me that number instead of answering these questions himself. After I mentioned I called his lawyer with the number provided to me, I finally received an answer from him. I truly would NEVER recommend Felix to anyone. He definitely knows a good amount about training dogs and their behavior and grooming, but he is an extremely unprofessional business owner. The room he trains in is musty and also smells like piss and there’s always dogs aggressively yowling and barking outside of the training room. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of valuing clients and working with them amicably to resolve issues if they come up. Felix made it clear that I was not a valued client after blatantly not reaching out to reschedule a session he had to cancel and then further shutting down when I continued to ask questions. Do not pay Felix to train your dogs. ——————————————————————— EDIT: It should be noted that Felix’s response blatantly assumes that I don’t spend time with me dog. I work with her twice per day. He also blatantly defered the fact that he neglected me as a client by telling me he needed to reschedule then never contacting me. DO NOT WORK WITH FELIX.

I started training my puppy with Felix right from the start. He is very knowledgeable and I was impressed that he continued to get certifications to learn and expand his knowledge - a good sign. He got Max to overcome many fears and be a more confident puppy. He also helped me to learn to reinforce all of his training to make for a happy, and obedient pup. This was definitely a challenge for this little puggle who has a lot of energy. Felix also helped with getting some great products that are all natural and safe, unlike many processed foods out there. I recommended him to a few friends and they loved him also. You can tell that he has an absolute passion for what he does. That's important to me. I always felt that he had Max's best interest at heart. I met some of his other clients over time, coming and going and they all seem very happy. I wholeheartedly recommend Dog Training Beyond.
