Question on Google
We are worried about leaving our dog. Can you share how you care for the dogs during camp?

The principles for human learning aren’t really all that different for animals. We have to meet all of the animal’s basic needs before they are able to flourish and successfully grasp new tasks. This includes proper nutrition and hydration, a clean environment, and stress mitigation. Because we prefer to remain totally transparent with our clientele, we published our Standards of Care Policy, which informs our staff and clients of how we will treat each animal in our care, regardless of their training status. You can see our "Standards Of Care Policy" on our website under "Blog." https://dogtrainingcamplouisville.com/2024/08/20/standards-of-care-in-the-kennel-environment/

Question on Google
If my dog goes to camp, will he remember me?

YES! They will remember you AND the things they used to get away with when they come home. That’s why it’s imperative you keep up with the training we teach you, especially the 1st week they are home, so your dog learns the same rules they followed while with us also apply at home with you as well. We have never had one single dog forget their owner and we LOVE seeing the sweet reunions.

Question on Google
Will my dog's personality change during training?

NO! We do not want to change the personality of your dog. He/she will still be the same goofy, shy, stubborn, or feisty dog when they return. It’s up to us to get to know your dog’s unique personality and enhance their good behavior, not take anything away. We just teach them that calmness and obedience work much better to get our attention and the things they want. They learn to look to us and YOU for direction/permission and follow our lead anywhere!

Question on Google
Why do you focus on habits?

A structured, consistent routine allows us to establish habits that are easy for you to maintain with little effort. Habits are the foundation to help you reach your goals and build a solid foundation to lasting change.

Question on Google
What makes Dog Training Camp different from other programs?

Long Term Behavior Modification: We teach real life, practical manners and establish long-lasting habits. Most dogs can “sit” or “down” especially if you have a treat in your hand. It’s more useful to have them behave well in the house and in public places. Our training strengthens the relationship and communication between you and your dog for a lifetime of harmony. Individual Attention: We limit our training classes so that you & your dog get the attention you deserve. Team Effort: Our trainers work together to provide your dog the benefit of combined years of expertise. Public Manners: Once your dog masters the leash and basic obedience, we take their skills on the road. Field trips allow for practice in different settings and with a variety of distractions. Support: We provide hands-on training, written instructions and videos to transfer the basics of leadership your family and set everyone up for success. Campers are also encouraged to attend the group classes included

Question on Google
Why is camp 2, 3 or 4 weeks?

We allow a few days for your dog to settle in and develop trust before their true personality starts to emerge. It takes time to undo unwanted behaviors and replace them with better habits. Our programs are broken down on our website or you can call us for guidance on what program might be best for your family. If camp isn't for you, we also offer private lessons in your home and group classes.

Question on Google
Why teach the owners?

When you send your dog to Training Camp, half of your dog’s training is with us, but the other half is reinforcement and practiced at home with you. We provide all the humans in the household with all of the the tools, techniques and opportunities they need to maintain everything their dog has learned and support them even after their dog goes home through optional in-home sessions, group classes, and more! If we work through lessons, the owners need to understand the training concepts and be able to implement and practice at home with their dog so that training progress can continue after our sessions.

We love this camp! We took our 1-year old lab/husky rescue for the three-week training camp. Melaney and Cory were very attentive and communicative throughout the entire process, both during and after camp. We loved the report cards telling us about progress in her training, what they were working on, and seeing photos! Since bringing her home, we've noticed a big improvement in her overall demeanor. She calms down quicker and listens to commands better, and her door manners have improved greatly. The camp provided a really strong foundation that we are excited to build on. Plus, we feel confident with the tools and training we received to ensure that we can continue the work at home. Melaney, Cory, and the other trainers all have a wealth of knowledge about dogs, and it is easy to see that they care deeply about the growth and well-being of each dog that is enrolled. We are so grateful for the love and training that they gave our pup!

When I met with Cory and Melany I came to them with a goal for my dog that wasnt a typical request, they embraced it and really worked with me to accomplish that goal. I could not be more pleased with their training and just working with them in general. There was constant communication while my puppy was at camp and I felt very comfortable and confident that he was well taken care of. Even after he completed camp they have been supportive during the transition to how his training fits into our daily life and work. Thanks to their training he is able to positively impact the patients I see and also help me with my own personal struggles. I would highly recommend their training program.

Can't thank Cory and Melaney enough! I was worried they wouldn't be able to help us with our wild lab. Cory suggested the 3 week training course and it has helped tremendously! Daisy is now just a typical puppy, not some demon child! Lol She still has a few "listening" problems, but nothing like before the training. Thank you again!! You've made our life easier

About 4 weeks ago, I dropped off a dog that didn’t listen, pulled so bad on the leash that I could barely manage to get him to his annual vet visit, jumped and barked constantly for attention, and had a major lack of impulse control. I knew I needed a professional because I was moving into a building that we would have to take an elevator and walk through a lobby full of people just to go outside for a potty break. His strength alone could take me to the ground if he wanted something bad enough. I spoke with Corey about all of my concerns before drop off, including an incident that happened to me in the past with a previous dog. She took the time to explain everything to me and answer every single one of my questions. They were also able to work with my work schedule for his drop off and pick up. Melaney reached out to me the few times I asked for a call to ask about something on his biweekly report card. She addressed everything in detail to make sure I understood what was going on. It was nothing concerning, I just wanted to make sure I knew what was going on. When I picked up my boy 3 weeks later, he was a totally different dog in the best way. He’s calmer, listens better, and we’re able to bond/train together with the foundation Dog Training Camp USA laid down for us. They even came up with personalized ways to move about our new building (he goes straight the left back corner of the elevator, sits so nicely, and rests his big ole head on my calf!). They took their time at handoff to address my anxieties and make sure I was comfortable and confident handling him. Their communication with both the parents (owners) and dogs was above and beyond what I could have ever expected. Their training methods are effective and realistic. Xander and I are so grateful to Corey, Melaney, and the rest of the team who took great care of my boy and gave us everything we need to have the best bond possible. We are both excited for our upcoming home-visit, but I think Xander is just excited to see his bff again. I’ve attached some pictures they included in Xander’s report cards. Keep in mind, he wouldn’t sit still for a picture prior to training, so these pictures say much more than 1,000 words.
