Dog Training Center of Chester County

Great experience in the level 1 class with my 9-month-old pitbull mix, Hazel, that I had rescued about 2 months prior. I was in a class with 6 other dogs, and Hazel was very excited the first week. By the third week I had her full attention for the majority of the class, and by the end of the six-week class she couldn't have cared less about what was going on around her. I recommend taking the class with any dog, be it a family dog or a working dog, as your dog will likely come to enjoy that one hour a week and you will have a dog that listens. It is heavily based on positive reinforcement so remember to bring a ton of treats!

There are probably good trainers at this facility. My personal experience and from emails I've received on Facebook from others who had "bad boy" breeds is if you have a "working" or what is considered a bad boy breed find another place to train your dog. I think this place is fine for the little pet dogs that do cute tricks and what not, but for a strong working breed this is not the place. I got the impression the trainers are scared and have negative opinions of the "power breeds" I had my Doberman in puppy kindergarten and my experience wasn't good at all. I've since switched trainers and I get compliments on how well behaved and what a gentleman my Doberman is.
