Dog Training Club of St Pete

I love this place and Liz is the best trainer I’ve had so far. She’s kind, patient and just an overall good person… and I was able to pick up on that after the first class! Please disregard the negative reviews below mentioning that Liz is “terrible with children”, etc. I witnessed the event in question and Liz acted in a calm and professional manner. It was the first day of training class for our puppies and it was difficult enough to try and keep our dogs calm… the child running circles and yelling certainly made it much much worse. Liz calmly asked the child to please stop multiple times, as the parents were obviously oblivious to the chaos their child was creating. The parents overacted and caused a scene because they can’t control their child properly. Their reaction was unwarranted and ridiculous (it was embarrassing to watch if I’m being honest).

I was so shocked to hear about the incident that was reviewed today of the Dog Training Club of Saint Petersburg and specifically, Liz Piquet… The club itself is excellent! A wonderful place to learn to train your dog in various dog sports and conformation! The club is highly respected & participates in many endeavors, including 4-H! I have known Liz Piquet for 13 years. Her first priority at the club with kids would be safety. If she wasn’t able to get the young man’s attention, she would have to raise her voice to do so, and all the years I’ve known her, I have never heard her be unkind to a student or family. I’m sorry that this family perceive the situation in this way, because I’m sure knowing her and the club it didn’t happen the way they perceived it. It is very interesting that the person who posted the negative review. Also mention that six people recommended the club. I would highly recommend Liz as a trainer, an advocate, and the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg.

This club has literally changed our lives. It is amazing that it is staffed by volunteers who so selflessly give their time to help people and their dogs. Liz has been a godsend. Her never ending patience, knowledge and caring has transformed my daughter and her dogs into an incredible, award-winning team. Twice in the last 3 years, my daughter (and her dogs) were named the State Fair's Champion of Champions for her age group. At 12 years of age my daughter has put numerous AKC titles on her dogs, participates in 5 different dog sports, and has competed successfully against adults many times her age. What an amazing confidence boost her dog sports have provided. None of this would have been possible without the dedication, gift for teaching, and knowledge of Liz. We are grateful for her service and this amazing facility.

****I STILL HAVE NOT RECIEVED MY REFUND !!!!!**** THE OWNER WAS NOT EVEN WORKING THE NIGHT THIS HAPPENED! WHAT SHE RESPONDED IS ALL COMPLETE LIES!!! WE ARE NOT THE TYPE OF PARENTS THAT WOULD LET OUR SON RUN AROUND LIKE SOME MANIAC IN A FACILITY WE'VE NEVER BEEN TO?!? THEY DO NOT CARE TO LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER THEY ONLY HAVE TRIED TO PROTECT LIZ! VERY SAD!!! Unfortunately tonight was my families 1st night and last night of training with our pup because of an employee named Liz. If you have children DO NOT go in the class with LIZ! She has zero patience with children. We were literally there for not even 2 mins! My son was unaware he could go in the fenced area and LIZ took it upon herself to raise her voice and yell at my son to get out of that area! She was apparently in a very bad mood and thought she could take it out on my son. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I will be getting a refund and making sure I go else where! I'm very disappointed because I've had like 6 people referring me to this place. But I absolutely will not tolerate anyone yelling at my son like that!

Wish I could give zero star as this was by far the worst experience as a customer ever...wanted to train my dog and not only did Liz yell and scream at my 5 year old son for getting inside gate (that was wide open, no dogs,no class, just simply checking in) owners of this place are sticking up for Liz when they weren't even there to witness her yelling and screaming at my son to get out of there as he was there for less then 5 seconds and she could have said things much differently and in a polite manner...however she took things to another level....I have trained 2 of my other dogs at this facility over a 25 year period and my experience was pleasant...however IF YOU HAVE KIDS STAY AWAY FROM LIZ!....and to be honest as the owner has lied on Google and has handled this situation pretty much in a "liz" fashion ...rude and unprofessional... I would recommend staying away from this place and doing business with them completely and find somewhere else to train your dog....
