We ask families to practice 5–6 days a week for about 15–20 minutes a day, whether in your backyard, from Bountiful north to Ogden or during walks through Snowbasin Ski Resort. How does a diabetic alert dog detect low blood sugar?
Diabetic alert dogs are trained to recognize the unique scent changes that occur when a person’s blood sugar drops (hypoglycemia) or rises rapidly (hyperglycemia). Through scent imprinting and positive reinforcement, dogs learn to associate these chemical changes with specific alert behaviors—such as pawing, nudging, or sitting in front of their handler. With consistent training, many diabetic alert dogs can detect changes in blood sugar levels before symptoms appear—sometimes even earlier than a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Our locally owned team specializes in diabetic alert dog training in Northern Utah, helping individuals and families live with greater safety, freedom, and peace of mind.

dog training help with fireworks anxiety during the Fourth of July?
Yes. Professional dog training can significantly reduce fireworks anxiety using desensitization techniques and structured obedience training. We gradually expose dogs to recorded firework sounds at low volumes while reinforcing calm behavior with rewards. Teaching commands like “place” and “stay” in a quiet, safe zone also builds a sense of security. Starting early gives your dog time to develop confidence before the noise begins. Our locally owned team offers personalized training in Northern Utah to help dogs stay calm and families feel at ease.

What’s the difference between a psychiatric service dog and an emotional support animal?
A psychiatric service dog (PSD) is trained to perform specific tasks that mitigate a diagnosed mental health disability, such as waking someone from night terrors or creating space in crowds. Emotional support animals (ESAs) provide comfort through their presence but do not have the same legal public access rights or task training. At Dog Training Elite in Northern Utah, we focus on task-based training for PSDs that empower our clients with PTSD and related conditions to navigate life with greater stability and security.

Training not only sharpens obedience—it also helps keep senior dogs active, engaged, and in shape. How do I pick the right dog for PTSD service work?
The best PTSD service dogs are calm, confident, attentive, and eager to learn. While breed isn’t everything, we often recommend Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and Poodles due to their temperament and trainability. At Dog Training Elite in Park City, we conduct temperament testing and offer professional guidance to help match individuals with dogs that meet the physical, emotional, and task-based demands of psychiatric service work. Whether you’re in Summit County, or anywhere in Park City, our locally owned team is here to support your journey with personalized service dog training.

Dog training elite, northern utah was the best thing that I've done. I love my dogs and putting in the money and effort is worth every penny. They have private training sessions to individualize to you and your dog's needs. I also love group classes where we get to interact with other dogs and owners and challenge and train your dog in a safe space. 💯 recommend!! All trainers are wonderful but Trevor was my trainer and I'm so grateful for the confidence and genuine care he gave me and my Griz. Griz is a big ole German Shepard with some fear reactivity mostly around other dogs, but some people as well. While we still have work to do, the difference is night and day. He and I can go out and a find joy and peace in our outings instead of fear. I honestly can't thank them enough.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Incredible Transformation!
We brought our sassy Pomsky to Dog Training Elite first for obedience training and later for service dog training—and the transformation was almost instant. I could not be more thrilled with the results. The improvement in her skills, focus, and confidence has been amazing.
Every single trainer we’ve worked with genuinely loves what they do and treats every dog as if it were their own. The ongoing support, group classes, and follow-up have made all the difference. You can tell this company truly cares about both the dogs and their owners.
I recommend Dog Training Elite over and over again—they’ve completely exceeded our expectations and given us a better-behaved, happier dog (and owners!).

Dog Training Elite Northern Utah... has been the most fullfiling experience. Our dogs have been so much better behaved. We still have some issues but once the command has been given to the dog even if it still takes a minute for it to register; it is so much better than before. We were getting frustrated with the dogs not listening. Now its day and night with them. Oh and the best thing besides that, is the employees who work for them. They are outstanding, super awesome, and the absolute best trainers I've worked with. I had one before but with that one it was hurry and get the training done. These guys will answer with empathy, professionalism and understanding. They are a joy to be around. The money spent was the best investment I have made. Thank you and God bless them with their knowledge and safety.
