Dog Training With Bob

Highly recommend hiring Bob’s services for dog training! Our dog Leo was a bit timid and lacked confidence around other dogs and new people. After an initial consultation with Bob, we booked five training sessions for Leo to work on some more advanced commands and anxiety around unfamiliar people/animals. The change is Leo’s confidence felt like it happened overnight and others who have known Leo for years commented on how much more relaxed and confident he seemed compared to usual. Bob provides recommendations for harnesses, leashes, collars, place boards, etc. and his reasoning for using specific types, letting us try them out in our session and see the benefits in action. I also appreciated his suggestions and corrections in the moment so that we could break some of our bad habits surrounding communication, since we were sending Leo mixed signals with the words and tone of voice for certain commands. He also let our other dog Odin, who is more social and a quick learner, practice with some of his gear to help us get the right tools for our dogs. I really appreciate how once you’re a client of Bob’s, you’re a client for life and he’s only a text away with any questions or concerns. Overall, I am thrilled with the progress Leo has made so far and we couldn’t have done it without Bob’s guidance!

I can’t say enough good things about Bob! I adopted Nina from our local shelter. She is a large, powerful girl, and while she was well-behaved at the shelter, once I got her home it quickly became apparent that she was extremely reactive to other dogs, with a high prey drive. I have a cat at home, and we live in a pet-friendly apartment community in a residential area, surrounded by many other dogs. I had many concerns, and was debating returning Nina to the shelter. It would have been her 3rd time there, and I wanted to give her every chance before making that decision. Enter Bob. Having a trainer who comes to your home is invaluable, especially when you are a nervous owner with a big dog who snarls and lunges at other dogs so that group classes are not feasible. We started with “leave it,” and Bob immediately reassured me that Nina was truly a diamond in the rough. Long story short, we’ve had 5 lessons with Bob, and while I still have not achieved out-of-crate interactions with the cat, I am no longer thinking of returning Nina, and am confident that we will get there! It’s only been 6 weeks, and Nina is walking calmly at heel and learning to keep her reactions in check when we encounter other dogs. I am no longer fearful of encountering other dogs on walks or in the hallways of my apartment. She is responding well, happy to be learning, and her vocabulary expands every day. Consistency with follow up is an absolute must, but Bob’s methods are effective and easy to employ, and if you follow his advice, you’ll reap the rewards and develop a great relationship with your dog along the way. Thanks to Bob, Nina is home forever, I have realized what a wonderful, sweet, smart girl she really is, and I would give ten stars if I could! Nina and I are so grateful, and we highly recommend working with Bob!

We rescued an 18 month old coton (Maddie) and after a few months decided we needed some help with training Maddie and my husband and me. We thought it would be ideal to do the training in our home, and we were right! I did some research and decided that Bob was the perfect choice. He spent considerable time on the phone asking about Maddie’s history and our experience so he understood what our backgrounds were. It was apparent from the questions he asked that his experience was vast. It was important to me that we work with someone who uses positive reinforcement. I didn’t want any kind of shock collar, etc and Bob definitely trains with a positive approach. He’s calm with parents and the dog and had several approaches we were able to try with Maddie to see what was most comfortable for all of us. Bob is responsive via text for quick questions in between lessons and I feel like we’ve made so much progress. We are so happy we did the training!!!! All of us are better off for it.
