I highly recommend Kirk and Dog Years! I met Kirk when he was still in Shelby, and sent my Boykin Spaniel Jeb for three months of gundog training. Jeb had developed a sound sensitivity and needed help unlocking his potential. Kirk was able to help Jeb access his prey drive, polish his flushing skills, and help him cope with his anxiety. Kirk’s positive reinforcement methods and genuine care for each dog he works with is evident in the results. I believe so much in what he does that since his relocation, I drive more than 300 miles round trip to continue to have Kirk work with my dog. Throughout the process, Kirk was very communicative and kept me updated to Jeb’s progress. My next gundog will be going to Kirk without question. I consider him to be a friend, not just a service provider.

I dropped off my 8-month old German Wirehaired Pointer, Palmer, with Kirk to get him started as a Bird Dog, and the work Kirk was able to do was remarkable. Palmer went from never being on birds before to being steady through shot with no e collar on. Throughout the whole process Kirk provided me with updates and allowed me to come out and visit to see the progress in person. Palmer has become a monster in the field who hunts for me, adjusting his range for the cover. Additionally, Palmer easily passed his NAVHDA Natural Ability test with a score of 110 and a Prize I. Palmer has been back with Kirk a few more times since and has loved it every time. Kirk has a knack with dogs and trains each dog individually to their specific needs. I would 100% recommend Kirk's services to anyone looking for a place to train or board their dogs.

We trusted our 8-month-old Irish Setter to Kirk McConnor at Dog Years for basic and advanced obedience training. I wouldn’t typically have sent the dog to another state for training but several people told me that Kirk the owner and trainer was something of a “dog whisperer. Once I saw their setup I was very comfortable. It was clear that the newest member of our family was in great hands. Kirk forwarded regular pictures and updates of her progress. Pepper is an angel and very obedient. She comes, heels, sits and walks next to you off leash. When you stop walking, she sits down and looks up at you. Prior to pick up, we had arranged for her to be groomed. He coat was shiny, her nails were trimmed and she was a happy girl.I highly recommend Dog Years to anyone looking to board, train or groom their dog!
