Doggie U K9 Academy

I have been renting the Agility area at Doggie on and off for years and attend shows there. Two reason times renting to practice Agility. I was quite disappointed. The cost was 50 for a half an hour that was fine, but there were four Jumps weaves a frame two tunnels dog walk in seesaw with little to be able to work on since we can’t move items and I do understand that . In the past when I rented there 2 said courses lots of good things to work on And now this a big, empty half of a rain with the items I mentioned in no real course. I am willing to pay 50 but basically half the room is empty and everything’s on the other side if it was spread out with a couple more things it would’ve been much better.

I took my dog here a few years ago. First, they strongly urged/forced me to buy a choker collar for my dog to use in the training. The i met the "Trainer" who was a young man who proceeded to tell me that his real job is as a boxer and that he could essentially take me down/beat me up/whatever he said. I thought it was an odd thing to even bring up, but i tried to keep an open mind as the rest of the introductory conversation was normal. The actual training was incredibly aversive and contradictory to normal dog training. Essentially, he was telling me that when you say a command and the dog doesnt adhere, you roughly tug on the leash/choker collar so that it "knows" it didnt do the wrong thing. Now, dogs arent people and they do not "know" they are doing the wrong thing. There have been plenty of studies which show this is type of training just creates fear and weakens the bond with your dog. Watching this guy pull my dog around was hard to watch and I could see it in my dogs face and body language that he was scared. After maybe 5 minutes i stopped the training and left, realizing this so called "trainer" had no business at all training dogs and had no trainer certifications. Looking at the website, i dont see this man pictured as a trainer(thank goodness), but it doesnt appear any of the trainers have any trainer certifications. Afterwards i reached out to the company and the owner refunded my money. While this happened a few years back, every time i think about it I feel bad that I let my dog be subjected to being manhandled at this place even for a short period of time. Please avoid and find a trainer who has actual certifications (CDBC, CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP).
