Doglingual Canine Training

I cannot say enough great things about Tamara and Carsyn. Our journey was a little different. They fostered our newest family member Buckee. He is such a joy and perfect match for our lives. Thanks to their training he is just perfect. His recall, his attention, and leash manners make it so easy to bring this guy with us everywhere. He is a little intimidating because he is a big boy but once everyone sees how sweet and well behaved he is they fall in love with him instantly. All thanks to his training! We are over the moon with our guy!!

I cannot speak highly enough of Doglingual and Tamara. We adopted Sawyer, a golden retriever mix who was such a sweet but very reactive guy. We started with a few in home training sessions, and eventually realized that he needed more intensive training to help him lower his anxiety and learn the cues and skills to be the best doggo he could be. We signed him up for the board and train program and he came home with so many new skills and a calmer overall demeanor. Tamara does an amazing job teaching you how to keep up with these new skills too. We are so glad we invested in Sawyer becoming the best boy by working with Doglingual!

We rescued our dog Millie (Whippet/Kelpie mix) from the Oregon Humane Society last summer, and from the start, things didn't go as expected. She was initially thought to be 4 months old, but after bringing her home and visiting our vet, we learned she was closer to 7 months. On top of that, she had picked up kennel cough at the shelter, which delayed any chance of early socialization. Between her age and isolation during a critical period, she developed pretty intense reactivity towards other dogs, along with separation anxiety. We tried everything we could, but it got to a point where taking her out in public felt stressful and unpredictable. I honestly started to feel like I was failing her. That's when I found Doglingual. From my very first conversation with Tamara, I felt like she understood me. She took the time to really understand Millie's history and our concerns, and she scheduled an in-person assessment quickly. During that assessment, she brought one of her impeccably well trained Belgian Malinois to safely evaluate Millie's reactivity. I was nervous, but Tamara handled everything with such calm confidence that I immediately felt at ease. What stood out most was seeing Millie move through her reactivity and actually settle, eventually being able to coexist and even engage positively. That moment alone gave me so much hope! We decided to move forward with the 4-week board and train, and it was hands down the best decision we could have made. Millie came back a completely different dog, in the best way possible! She's now able to focus on me during walks, is off-leash trained (and is able to join Trekking Paws), kennel trained, understands place, and heel on both sides. But most importantly, she's more confident and able to experience the world without the same level of fear. One of the biggest reasons we chose Doglingual was the environment Tamara provides. She integrates dogs into real life settings like pet-friendly stores, restaurant patios, city and park walks, and busy environments. That made such a difference because it directly reflects how we live. You can also tell how much Tamara genuinely loves and respects dogs. Her approach balances structure and discipline with compassion, which was incredibly important to us. Her own dogs are a clear reflection of that, they are not only well-trained, but also deeply connected to her. Even after the program, Tamara has continued to support us. She's been there for questions, guidance, and even helped us introduce a new puppy into our home. That ongoing relationship means so much. Because of our experience, we'll be sending our newest addition, Rupert (full Whippet), to train with Tamara as well and we feel completely confident doing so! He performed a “place” command, greeted the friend respectfully without jumping, and returned to his spot when a dog walker appeared. Rico observed the dog, looked at his owner, maintained his position, and then calmly went inside. The couple was amazed by his progress. Grateful for Tamara’s guidance, dedication, and follow up visits, they realized they now had the adventure dog they had always dreamed of. Rico’s journey from chaos to calm was a testament to the power of love, patience, and expert training.
