Dogs by Foster

I cannot recommend Ashley Foster enough! Not only is she an incredibly nice, funny person, but she really knows what she is doing and the results show! For a quick review, this is why I recommend Ashley: -She is educated in this field and is highly passionate about what she does -She teaches a no harm method of training -Her classes are organized/structured very well -She gives lots of one-on-one attention -The handouts for her classes are incredibly helpful -Ashley is always willing to give extra advice for problems that aren't discussed in the class -Her methods work!!!! -Affordable rates For a long review, this is why I recommend Ashley: I took my 9 month old Australian shepherd/lab/blu heeler mix to her 'Smart Dog 1' class after, unfortunately, putting him through Fort Collins Dog Training with Terry Jester. What a difference it was to go to Ashley's class! With Terry's class (the previous dog trainer I went to), we were taught the dominance method. There was really no introductory class and the classes weren't all that structured. Most of the time Terry was having us jerk our dogs around and forcing them to behave a certain way by putting them into submission. One of the methods Terry taught was that we can't even pet our dogs unless they do something for us. This was so not the method for me or my pup. After I did more research I found Ashley's class where she teaches a "purley pawsitive' method. Not only was I happier, but Blu was so much more receptive to her training methods. The difference is that Ashley's methods teach the dogs so that they want to behave a certain way, it is rewarding for the dog to behave! And it really works. I never once had to roll my dog into a submissive state or jerk on his leash when we were walking. It was fun for Blu to learn the tricks because it really made him think and challenge himself. In addition, Ashley's classes are very structured. The first class in the five week course was just for the dog owners. Ashley explained her methods to us and told us why it works. Every following meeting Ashley would instruct us through very structured classes and would walk around and help us individually if our dogs were not getting it. At the end of every class we would get a handout with homework for that week. This was especially helpful because the sheet would instruct you how to do everything and different ways to incorporate it into other behaviors. Another reason I was so happy with the course is Ashley would give me tips on how to help Blu on other problems he was having, even if they had nothing to do with the class. usually after every class I would go up to Ashley and ask her about a behavior problem and she would give me tips on ways I could work with Blu. Although I didn't ever hire Ashley for a private lesson (cause I am a broke college student or I totally would have!) she always spend time with me after class to help me with my needs. I would 100% recommend Ashley Foster and Blu and I can't wait to take more courses from her!
