Dogs By Shawn

We can't recommend dogs by Shawn enough. Shawn has been working with our Dutchess and us for a couple of weeks now. Dutchess's biggest issue was pulling, people, dogs,squirrels, cats and even the occasional golf cart. Being rather unstable on my feet this was a big safety concern. Well the training isn't complete yet but the progress with Dutchess is drastic and noticeable, I already have greater confidence walking with her and every day is better than the previous. We adopted a golden doodle puppy in June 2025 and quickly realized she needed training. We found Shawn via Facebook and were immediately impressed with his demo reel. Shawn helped us turn a jumpy, nippy, and wild puppy into an obedient and attentive good girl. We quickly learned that training is for both the dog and the people. He holds you accountable for training as homework and as he says, "Dogs don't lie", so don't try to bs him! Shawn is an exceptional trainer. He has been instrumental in fostering trust between our Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) and my wife. When my wife returned home approximately two to three months after we acquired our ACD puppy, the dog had not yet fully recognized the shift in household hierarchy. Previously, the order was Dad, daughter, then the pup, but now Mom/wife was in a more prominent position. After two years of limited progress with a previous trainer, I sought out a new professional. Our pup had unfortunately nipped my wife a few times during disagreements, seemingly attempting to assert dominance. With my wife growing fearful and considering giving up on the dog, I realized immediate action was necessary. Upon meeting Shawn, he visited our home for an initial consultation. The subsequent weekly training sessions have significantly boosted my wife's confidence and strengthened the bond of trust between her and our dog. Our ACD now understands and respects the established order within our home. We are continuing our training with Shawn to further enhance our dog's abilities and their connection. My wife has developed a deep affection for our dog, replacing her previous fear. Our training regimen has encompassed various commands, including heel, sit, down, off, stay, come, leave it, back up, eye contact/watch me, release/drop it, play, and settle. Providing our ACD with tasks keeps her mentally engaged and physically tired, contributing to a happy and well-adjusted dog. We have also had the pleasure of building a wonderful relationship with Shawn. His patience and profound understanding of training principles are remarkable. He effectively breaks down complex concepts, helping us comprehend canine thought processes. He emphasizes the importance of each command, body language, and tone of voice. I believe that my wife, who was not previously a "dog person," now genuinely loves and trusts our four-legged companion.
