Your dog will need to know basic obedience and probably some advanced. You might want to go online and look up the Durham Kennel Club. They have many classes available and can point you in the right direction of how to get your dog trained and where to go for certification.

Great people, great facility. Couldn't have asked for a more friendly and inviting place to enter our first AKC event.
DKC offers low cost obedience, agility, scent training canine good citizen and trick dog training classes. The trainers actually compete in these sports and are competent and supportive. The classes are the most affordable in the triangle.
Recently visited the club for a seminar. Really nice facility and the grounds are excellent.
