Elite Pup Training

Ricky can somehow look into the mind of a dog. I downsized from obedient, loving to please Labs and Goldens to a sassy, assertive, and sometimes aggressive English Cocker Spaniel. I really thought I could not keep this puppy. Ricky turned this dog around. She is a dog that definitely needs a gentle hand but at the same time, can be very nasty herself. Ricky figured her out . She's very smart and thrived on the obedience training and boundary setting. He worked this miracle while enabling her to maintain her spunky personality and be a genuinely happy dog who has learned impulse control and the joy of doing her "job". She loves Ricky and I can't say enough good stuff about the experience with EPT.

I can confidently say that I have a totally different dog now than when I started. I got a rescue puppy border collie (questionable life choices but I digress). She was very reactive and pulled on my leash, walks were a nightmare and she would run out of my house and escape and would not come back when called. I've learned how to bond with her much more so that her aggression, reactivity, barking and leash pulling are all manageable. I was so nervous going into it that she was beyond hope, but Ricky fully understand my dog, assured me there was a good dog inside of her we just needed to coax it out and now I see it. She's such a sweetheart and I can take her for calm, peaceful walks now. Everything was seamless from the communication, the booking, the training etc. It was worth every single penny. In fact, I am not ready to be done so I am booking another 3 sessions :) If you have a tough dog, or just want a tune up on your dog or new puppy I can not recommend Elite Pup Training enough!! We’ve worked with Ricky Rojas at Elite Pup Training for over 15 years, and Olive is now our third dog to train with him. Every time we come back, we’re reminded why—we trust Ricky completely and his system simply works. This was our first time trying the drop-off day training program, and it ended up being the perfect fit for us and for Olive. The structure gave her focused, intensive training during the day with Ricky and his staff, while still allowing her to come home and relax with us in the evenings. It really felt like the best of both worlds. Our top three concerns going in were leash pulling, getting Olive to mind her business on walks, and building a reliable “down.” The new day training program addressed all three incredibly well. The transformation in her walking manners alone has made daily walks so much more enjoyable. One thing we’ve always appreciated about Ricky is how he makes his training system simple to understand and easy to replicate at home. He doesn’t just train the dog—he teaches the owners how to maintain the progress. That clarity and consistency have made a huge difference for us with every dog we’ve trained with him. We’re incredibly grateful for Ricky and the Elite Pup Training team. Olive is happier, calmer, and much more enjoyable to walk and live with thanks to their work!!

I sit here on my couch after doing my own morning training session with both dogs and I am in tears. I cannot begin to explain the amount of relief from anxiety training my dogs with Ricky has brought me. No amount of therapy could touch how I felt previously. I have learned patience, clear communication (with my dogs), and appreciation of the minds ability to change after years and years of ingrained unwanted behaviors. Ricky does not sell a one size fits all package - each of my dogs are VERY different, and while the fundamental approaches and concepts in training are the same - the method and timing in which we applied and reinforced these were vastly different. Ricky is able to connect with two leggers and four leggers alike - he gives clear feedback to dogs and human and uses metaphors that we humans understand (driving the speed limit and getting speeding tickets haha) on how the concepts of his approach effects dog behavior. I couldn’t be happier. I am humble and I know I need to continue management (and one of my dogs I am holding to higher standard so we are going to continue our own sessions based on what I have learned) but my dogs are completely different. I’m getting complimented by family, friends, and people on walks - impressed with how well behaved my dogs are. I smile and tell them “thank you it’s lots of continued hard work” and move along. This morning in particular we walked during trash pick up, had lots of people distractions, and both dogs stayed heeled and attentive to me on their separate walks. Do not hesitate to consider Ricky for your training needs. Also, if you feel alone with your dogs behavior - please know you are anything but alone. The fact you are looking at reviews for dog trainers is a clear indicator that you want the best for your dog and intend to give them them best. :)
