Equilibrium Canine

First time dog owner here. I was looking for a trainer for our puppy mini golden doodle. We went to a few places and wasn’t really feeling it. Then we met Nick of Equilibrium Canine and instantly was different. From our first consultation to now, I cannot recommend someone more. You can tell right from the beginning that Nick has a deep passion for dogs and wanted by to help ensure that not only our puppy but us as well is prepared for the long journey of being a Dog Dad. To me what separates Nick from the others is that Nick uses an approach that is not aggressive or using harsh tool but instead takes the time to connect with your dog on a deeper level and uses that approach to ensure all your dogs needs are met. I also quickly learned that we as dog parents are the ones that need a lot of the work, and Nick is amazing at helping with that as well. Could not recommend anyone more!

I came to Nick in February of 2023, just having rescued a 10 lb chihuahua mix from Puerto Rico, complete with a slew of anxieties about the new world he was living in. Before Nick, I could not walk my dog on a leash, he would dig his claws into the ground and refuse to move. He was terrified of the world around him, and any loud noise, human or animal, would petrify him. He couldn't be left alone, and I was incredibly overwhelmed. Nick is great at assessing the needs of each individual dog and putting a training program in place. He helped me unlock a new language with dogs, and I can see that hard work (training daily), patience, and consistency have tremendously paid off. In addition to my training sessions with Nick, he makes himself available via text for quick advice on the fly! When I needed a place for my dog to go for a month while I was selling a home and moving, Nick was the only place I felt comfortable sending my dog. After 4 weeks in a board and train with Nick he has incredible obedience as well as the ability to recover from situations that are stressful and triggering with lead work. I feel much closer to my dog and confident I can support him through any scenario. I cannot recommend Nick enough!

Nick has been an absolute game-changer for us, transforming not just our rescue dog Reno's behavior, but our entire household dynamic. Today, Reno walks past other dogs calmly, walks on a leash without pulling, and responds reliably to off-leash commands. Most importantly, Reno's training is not food-based; it is connection-driven. The trust we've developed with him has truly elevated our quality of life and brought peace to our household. Beyond his impressive skills as a trainer, Nick's kindness, professionalism, and genuine love for dogs shine through in every interaction. We wholeheartedly recommend his services and are grateful for the positive impact he's had on our lives and Reno's wellbeing.

My wife and I have been working with Nick on training for our dog Ripley since she was just a few months old. It’s been an amazing journey together since then and can’t imagine where we would be otherwise! Nick has been an unbelievable trainer and has taught us so much we didn’t know about communication and connection through leadwork and more. Our dog is in such a great place at 1.5 years old because of all the work we’ve done together and Nick’s guidance. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for meaningful dog training that really works.

Nick has definitely changed our relationship with Miso for the better! We got her as a 6 month old rescue from a hoarding/stray situation and she definitely was more than a handful - always jumping around and never seeming to have an off button no matter how much we exercised or walked her. Now we can go on walks with her without pulling us around - no harness or noseloop/gentle leader contraption! She has amazing recall and I can finally envision her going hiking with us without being scared she will run off forever (we are not there yet, but we can see it happening after a month board and train with Nick). She is much more aware and attentive to us, which is hard to get a beagle foxhound mix to be! Definitely recommend Nick!
