First Gen Dog Training

We cannot say enough amazing things about Devin at First Gen! Before training, our puppy was absolutely wild — nonstop energy, not listening, pulling constantly, and honestly running our household 😅. Should I mention we have a 6 month old puppy at 6 months pregnant? Yeah. We were ready for some professional help. After working with Devin, the transformation has been incredible. Our pup is now so much calmer, more obedient, and actually listens to commands consistently. We can finally, comfortably walk with him on leash without pulling. What we appreciated most was the patience, knowledge, and personalized approach. He didn’t just train our dog — he taught US how to better communicate and work with him too. He listened to the issues we were facing and knew exactly how to address all of our challenges. Every session was encouraging, effective, and made such a huge difference. If you’re struggling with a crazy puppy and wondering if training is worth it, it absolutely is — and this is the trainer you want. Highly recommend!

We have worked with Devan, Melissa, and First Gen Dog Training for several years and could not be happier with their support. We sent both of our Aussiedoodles there for 2 week boarding and training. Devan then taught our family how to keep up with the training. We have been able to truly enjoy our pups so much more now that they know how to behave and we know how to manage them. Devan has also quickly answered some of my most random “what do I do…” questions as concerns have come up. When we travel, we gladly trust First Gen Dog Training with boarding our pups. I love knowing that Devan and family are there and that the dogs will get plenty of time playing and tiring themselves out. I completely recommend Devan and First Gen Dog Training! Devan has been an amazing trainer to work with our 10-month old GSD, Max! Max is SUPER high energy and did not come knowing really any commands. I initially signed up for the Private Lessons and Devan fixed his severe leash pulling within 2 sessions! Now, Max walks like a dream. He also taught us how to properly exercise our dog to satisfy his energy levels, which is required for Max to be able to focus on training. We also signed Max up for a 2-Week board and train after an honest discussion about the training needs for a super high energy dog that we did not anticipate adopting. While still high energy, Max came back knowing a suite of commands that we are working on strengthening every day with training, and he is much better at learning how to settle outside of his crate. Devan is extremely accommodating, even coming over for an inpromptu training session which really set Max back on track after a slight regression. I highly recommend his services. He has the knowledge (and finesse!) needed to handle any dog, no matter the problem, and is realistic with goal setting and training. His pricing is fair and more reasonable than other quotes I received around metro atlanta, and it has been worth the investment. Please remember that a majority of the training is for YOU the owner, so be open to guidance and consistent!
