First Gen Dog Training

Cooper is now 9 months old. He has been training and at daycare for the past 3 months. Without the help Devon has given us we would not be Cooper’s parents. We are an older couple that sought Devon’s help and training. With Devon’s advice and guidance Cooper is calmer for his walks and greeting our neighbors. He sleeps well in his crate at night too. He is a sweet puppy and we are so happy to have Devon, and his wife Melissa, help us. I recommend anyone needing help - seek Devon and you will be very happy!

We left our 17 week bernese mountain dog with first gen for a 2 week board and train. We planned this around our family vacation and couldn’t be happier. We tried training on our own and got so many conflicting training methods. So we met with Devon at first gen dog training to see if we’re comfortable leaving our dog with them. We immediately knew that they really had a passion for dog training and also really loved dogs. During our vacation we were happy to see all the updates and progress our pup was making. Then when we picked him up we learned exactly how to continue our training. It really was a night and day difference. We look forward to continue working with first gen dog training in the future. We put our dog, Bramble, through Devan's Off-Leash Program and we could not be happier with the results. Before we couldn't trust Bramble to behave, really on or off-leash. Now everywhere we go we impress everyone around with how well-behaved Bramble is and how well he listens to what I ask of him. Devan is the guy to go to if you need help training your dog. He makes you feel understood in the problems you may be having and ALLWAYS answered my phone calls when I needed help on the fly.

We adopted our German Shepherd puppy, Izzy, at 2 months old. She began training with Devan at First Gen Dog Training at 3 months. To be honest, Izzy has been different from most pups & training started pretty rough. We joked that Izzy was broken. She was not normal in her interests. We couldn't get her to engage in play. She wouldn't play with toys, she wouldn't chase a ball, etc, which made it hard to exercise her before training sessions. All she wanted to do was explore, eat rocks/sticks, & bite arms. Our first session with Devan proved to be difficult. Devan made a joke later saying she was the first puppy he thought he'd have to refund. He said she had the attention span of a butterfly. All of her uniqueness makes her fit our weird family but we definitely wanted to "fix her" so we got to work with Devan's help. She has learned loose leash walking, come, sit, down, place, stay, out, & leave it. It wasn't easy but it just takes patience, consistency, and not having too high of expectations for her age. She is almost 7 months now. We take her with us everywhere including a cross country drive to Wyoming. Everywhere we stopped she went in with us. We have taken her in stores & restaurant patios & people have complimented how well behaved she is. She's still not completely "normal" but she is so enjoyable & thankfully as she's maturing she's fetching balls & frisbees and we love going on hikes with her. We're actually taking her to a Rome Braves baseball game this coming Friday for pet days. We are so grateful we had Devan at First Gen Dog Training!!! We couldn't have done it without him!
