Flat Collar K9 Training

I’m leaving this review so others are aware of my experience with Madelyn McDonald. I boarded my 3 year old German Shepherd here on June 9th and on June 12th I received the a phone call that my girl had passed away. Madelyn offered to cover the cost of the necropsy and cremation services, which we were initially grateful for during this incredibly difficult time and since we were out of state. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple process has turned into an additional nightmare. I still have not received my dog’s paw print, and despite multiple attempts to communicate, I have not received a response. Thankfully, with the help of a local vet office, I was able to locate the company that handled the cremation and am now able to have a replacement paw print sent. Losing my dog was heartbreaking enough. Being ignored for the last two weeks has made it incredibly worse. Here’s a photo of my girl that passed in her care.

I am so happy we chose Madelyn. If you would have told me 3 weeks ago my dog would be doing the things he is today I would Have laughed. We had talked to other trainers, their methods were not working. My dog needed to be taught manners, structure and boundaries in every sense. Flat collar k-9 worked with him on a 3 week board and train and he came home doing things I’ve tried to train him to do for years. Madelyn knew what he needed and worked hard to accomplish it. I would Recommend flat collar k-9 to anyone wanting to modify behaviors in their dog.

I was very concerned about leaving our girl with a trainer because of a negative past family experience with a different trainer. Madelyn convinced us when we met her at our first appt that our girl would be safe and well treated so we decided to sign up for her 3 week board and train as we had some reactivity issues. I have to say I am extremely pleased. I just took our sweet 90 lb Malinois on a walk, something I couldn't do before because of her constant pulling and barking. She walked beside me like I had a different dog, no barking, no pulling, no reaction to the neighbors. Calmly and attentive to me. I highly recommend Flat Collar and Madelyn. She and her team did an incredible job with our girl.

I struggled to find an experienced trainer who truly understood my quirky German Shepherd—until we worked with Madelyn. We started with private lessons because he was reactive with other dogs. He gained solid obedience, reliable e-collar walking skills, and learned to peacefully cohabitate with an older dog in our home. A year later, we completed the 21-day program, and he’s truly a different dog. He understands boundaries, responds consistently to commands, and his training made introducing a baby into our home so much smoother. We’re so grateful for the structure and peace Madelyn brought to our family.

My dogs boarded with Maddie over the Christmas holiday. I raise Belgian Malinois and needed to board them with someone who has the knowledge and experience to handle the breed appropriately, especially my feisty older male. Maddie sent me regular updates during their 2 week stay and my boys were happy and healthy and relaxed when I picked them up. She even managed to put a little more weight on them which is a feat in itself as they are not easy keepers. I highly recommend Maddie and the whole team at Flat Collar K9!
