Focus Dog Training - Obedience Dog Training

I began searching for a dog trainer about 4 months ago after a disastrous visit to my Vet. My 5 month old Yorkie puppy, Lucy, was so badly behaved and “spoiled” that the vet wanted me to work with a trainer before I brought her back. They couldn’t even draw blood from her until she was put under anesthesia! She was snarling and biting everyone! I had similar issues with my groomer. They told me that Lucy was an aggressive “biter”, and she was very difficult to groom. I was beyond embarrassed, and very desperate! There began my search for someone to help me with my 4 pound Tasmanian devil. Lucy was biting me on a daily basis whenever I tried to brush her or fix her hair. Her barking was so out of control, especially when food was present. To make it worse, she wasn’t housebroken, either! Mealtimes were a nightmare for us, even when she was crated, she barked incessantly! I finally found Rick at Focus Dog Training and made an appointment. Rick got to see Lucy in all her snarling glory! Well, Rick had a plan! A plan to help change Lucy into the dog we needed her to be. He gave me assignments to do with Lucy dozens of times a day. She is so food driven that treats worked perfectly to get positive behavior. I even had to wear leather gloves for awhile to keep from being bitten. Rick, also, went with me to my vet and groomer to see what Lucy’s behaviors were. Today, I’m proud to say, Lucy goes to the vet and groomer without incident! She goes to her crate and bed on command. She lets me brush her and put up her hair, even though she doesn’t like it, and she’s housebroken ! I still work with her daily on good manners and barking, but thanks to Focus Dog Training, Lucy is a totally different dog!
