FirstBarkThis is the best training program in Santa Barbara. We have tried many programs in town and one in particular actually was pretty damaging. Follow the Leader has worked hard to mitigate the anxiety the other trainer caused/exacerbated with my older dog and has been very successful. And he has been a wonder with our new puppy. I cannot recommend Erik and his team more highly. They are incredible.

Follow the Leader K9 offers dog training for dogs of all breeds and temperaments. We specialize in creating a unique training approach for every dog and owner that we work with. In addition to individual training sessions, we offer day and overnight training programs, all on our half acre training facility. We have two mottos: “If we love them, lead them", and, "We don't blame them, we train them".

This overnight training camp will give your dog 24 hrs of complete immersion from Monday through Friday. Every day they will take part in our day training camp, and every night they will be sleeping in the home of our master trainer. An end of week "go home session" is included. Your dog will come to learn and play with us from 8:30AM-5:30PM Monday through Friday. Every day they will be learning from our Master Trainer and his amazing mentor dogs. It’s almost a year now since Amber has been going to Follow the Leader K9. All the trainer’s are amazing and true leaders. When we first met, I spoke about Amber’s behavioral issues of aggression, being jealous, territorial and resource guarding towards my other dog Chiquita and neighborhood dogs. She would at times, get anxious and overwhelmed. We discussed goals I would like to reach with Amber. The trainer’s worked with Amber and I with strategies of training methods and how to utilize these tools towards our goals to stop the unwanted behavior. Part of Amber’s training was leash walking/leading, pack walks, agility training, basic commands, off leash and socialization. I love to see Amber socializing with other dogs, it certainly has built up Amber’s confidence as well as mine with the overall training. The entire training process has been a positive experience. Amber has come a long way and I’m so proud of her. I completely trust Amber in the hands of the trainer’s and I feel comfortable leaving her there. Amber loves and enjoys being at Follow the Leader and has made several furry friends. I recommend all dog owners to Follow the Leader K9. I cannot recommend Eric (and his team) enough! We took in a 70lb Husky foster with significant energy and reactionary issues, and the Follow the Leader team donated time and worked wonders with him. They gave us tools that completely changed our experience. He skillfully uncovered the amazing dog hiding beneath all those challenges. Eric's effective training techniques made all the difference, not just for our dog but for me as well. He truly helped transform our foster to uncover the true a "diamond in the ruff".
