Cheryl was great! Easy to schedule with, flexible hours, and always positive. I appreciated her specific instructions on how to give commands and how to reward my dog in a way that he understands and will follow. She responded to questions outside of our training session if I needed it, and was happy to address the specific behavior goals I wanted (teaching my dog to stay out of the kitchen during meals was amazing). She went the extra mile—even coming with me to an assisted living center to give my dog a taste of being a therapy dog.

I am so grateful that I found Cheryl through a Google search and so I want to make sure that I post how amazing she is, for others to find her as well. I swear by her method of clicker training. I can make a clicking sound alone now, and he immediately goes to a sitting position as a default, whether during a walk or inside the house. He knows all the basic commands very well and we've branched out to knowing and naming his favorite toys to retrieve using the clicker method with treats, then tapering off the clicker...then tapering off the treats. My dog Simon is the first I've owned in 30+ years and I really didn't know how to work with him, communicate with him or even help him learn basic manners. I was great with cats, but completely ignorant with dogs. And Cheryl's training was really showing me how to build that communication with Simon and help him recognize positive behavior, rewards, and for me to repeat the process again and again. And Cheryl was so patient with my crazy, busy work schedule. It was harder toward the latter sessions to dedicate as much time, but she left me with so many great tools and instructions that I can persist his training moving forward. AND she helped identify these crazy quirks about his personality that I can help bring into a better quality of life for him...which in this case, he LOVES to smell everything! So, I try to introduce him to new and interesting places, to explore just for that purpose. Cheryl helped me listen to his voice, and he's part husky so that's literal at times, but I recognize his requests to go for a walk, to get special attention, get a treat, go potty, ...you might think that's easy to discern, but those were lessons I needed to learn with her help. And he clearly tells me each and every time. I want to also mention that Cheryl helped me in some other very significant ways. I didn't know anything about yeast infections in a dog's ear, or that it was a thing. But she identified it immediately in one of our sessions and I was able to get it treated quickly, due to her knowledge and education. She also educated me about kennel cough, which my dog experienced and I had no idea that was what had happened to him. Her training extends so much further than just clicker. It's very holistic....it's the person and the pet. Both of you will learn, and learn together. And the bond will be even better. I adored my dog before, but now I know that HE knows that too. And I thank Cheryl for that.

I cannot say enough good things about Cheryl! My husband and I recently had a baby and in anticpation of his arrival we knew that we needed to work on training our 3.5 year old corgi. He is a great dog but needed work on his basic commands and we didn't know where to start. As soon as we met Cheryl I knew she was the perfect fit. She is so patient, kind and professional. Do not hesitate for a second to hire her for training. We plan on working with her again in the future.

What a paw-some experience! We just completed our sessions. I cannot speak highly enough about the experience. From the moment we met Cheryl, it was clear that she is dedicated to providing the best possible training for our reactive dog. Cheryl treated our dog with genuine care and kindness, creating warm and welcoming environments that put both us and our dog at ease. Her training methods are incredibly effective, giving us the tools to work with our dog on our own using everything she's taught us. Each training session from first to last was tailored for our dog. We look forward to working with Cheryl again in the future.

We have two Goldendoodle littermates that have reactivity issues. Before meeting Cheryl, we couldn't take them anywhere without a frenzy of barking, lunging, jumping and chaos. With much practice and patience we have had several successful calm car rides, a great camping trip surrounded by people and other dogs, and our dog walks are improving every day. The Doodles now know sit, down, leave it, wait at a threshold, touch/come, shake, drop it and they love their kennels.....much to our surprise! Friends and family remark on how much better behaved our dogs have become. We highly recommend For the Love of Dogs training. It was worth every penny!
