We chose live, online personalized training for our two dogs. The dogs' anxieties and barking increased during the pandemic and they became far more territorial. Johanna at Four Legged Scholars helped us to find ways of decreasing anxiety in each of our dogs and ways for them to more calmly allow visitors to enter the house. We also have tools now to continue working on various behavioral changes that help keep our dogs in a calmer, happier state. I totally recommend working with Johanna if you have any dog behavioral concerns that you want to change.

We have a one year old dog who was overly excited when visitors came: jumping, barking and urinating when they entered the house. She is also very reactive to the neighbors being outside, delivery drivers, and just about any other stimulus outside the yard. We learned multiple techniques for addressing this behavior including commands like "target" to redirect her and increase distance from her triggers and training techniques to help alleviate her stress from visitors. We also learned how to help our visitors react appropriately to her negative behaviors. We have seen a remarkable improvement in her when visitors come and she is much calmer and no longer jumps on them. We have also seen huge improvements in her reactions to neighbors and the mail person but understand this is a much longer process and we will continue using the tools and techniques we have to improve even more. We did live, personalized online training, and I was initially skeptical that it could be effective but I was very surprised and pleased at the results and felt that this style of training ultimately held us accountable for truly connecting with our dog and doing the work required to help her improve her behaviors.

I just got my puppy when I started with Four Legged Scholar. I was a new puppy owner and it had been a while since I owned a dog. I wanted to make sure I could get my puppy house trained and that I set him up for success. Johanna helped me with any issues I had with him immediately. For example, the first issue was sleeping without him barking all night long. Her tips and training helped with that so fast! He is so well behaved for a 6 month old puppy. He doesn't pull often on his leash and listens to commands well. My friends are surprised that he is still a puppy with how well behaved he is. And I did the live personalized online one-on-one dog sessions so he got use to listening to me more. I definitely am glad I went this route for dog training.

Before working with four-legged scholars our puppies were biting everything and each other. They were having accidents in the house. We have two puppies from the same litter. They didn’t listen at all. We learned basic commands like sit, stay, come, etc. One of the biggest commands we learned that helped a lot is target. We also love the settle command. We did video online sessions and it was amazingly helpful. The difference is before and after is huge. The puppies listen so much more now, no accidents in the house, and the biting of us and themselves is little to none. We would gladly work with Four Legged Scholars again.
