Freak On A Leash Dog Training

I started working with Shana a few months ago for Raven’s reactivity concerning dogs and other people. Before I was very nervous and felt it impossible to have Raven meet anyone specifically men. I was worried I’d never be able to take her anywhere or have people over. She has improved so much and Shana gave me all the tools to help Raven feel more secure and thrive. Our vet visits have been more successful and comfortable for everyone. Raven feels more confident inside the home (no barking at noises as much). I’ve also successfully been able to have Raven meet my friends including men! Yay!

We reached out when the DNA results for our “lab mix” puppy turned out to be a mostly Rott/Great Dane (and a couple other big breeds) mix 😳. We wanted to give her the best and make sure that she was a well mannered and social dog since she’s likely to be big. Andrea was our trainer and she was awesome! She is so patient and knowledgeable. She makes you feel at ease and helps you build confidence in yourself and your dog. She is so aware of dog body language and taught us what to look out for when socializing with other dogs. She came to our house, we went to a park, and had our last session at Home Depot. She has since become a Home Depot regular and we love to take her to Botanical Gardens. The homework provided after each session helped keep the lesson fresh and provided additional guidance. I only wish I could keep her forever (Andrea that is lol).

We went to freak on a leash after some concern with a relationship between Tuna and a family members dog. We did 6 sessions of the behavioral training and Cheryl came to our home, and places we frequent like the coffee shop or brewery. She even came to my family members house and saw the two dogs together, and helped train their dog in tandem with Tuna. From session timing to session location, the flexibility Cheryl had was fantastic. Though the sessions can seem quick, they are packed with so much helpful information and expert insight. From real time training (intervention on when to reward, repeating tasks, etc.), to general dog behavior questions I had- it was a lot to keep us busy between sessions! Though it’s a cliche, I feel I’ve learned just as much if not more than Tuna, on how to build our relationship and advocate for her needs at home and in public. I definitely feel I have the tools to help her thrive, and I look forward to trying out some of their workshops with Tuna! Thanks Cheryl!

Fantastic experience. Our dog, Peach, came to us with immense challenges around handling. She was terrified of being handled. She screamed, thrashed, and snapped at anyone that she thought was going to hurt her…which was pretty much everyone. Simple things like wiping dirt off her legs or checking between her fur for ticks would result in a completely panicked meltdown, screaming and alligator rolling. She had terrible sleep startle. Vet visits were a nightmare. Her behavior was incredibly unpredictable and so, so overwhelming. Obviously this wasn’t a safe or healthy situation, so we contacted Freak on a Leash and were paired with Andrea. We had a transformative experience with her! Andrea visited our home weekly, then biweekly, and provided thoughtful and compassionate feedback during her visits and in-between. She is a confident and expert trainer. She provided a training plan that was easily understandable, and was willing to pivot when necessary as Peach progressed. Peach now approaches us of her own accord all the time for affection, and is clearly much more comfortable and relaxed in our home. While she is still nervous at the vet, we’ve seen significant improvement in her ability to tolerate vet visits through the cooperative care techniques that Andrea taught us. Peach is already leaps and bounds ahead of what I ever thought would be possible for her, and still improving! Thank you Freak on a Leash and Andrea for helping our family!
