Garrett Stevens' Alpha and Omega Dog Training

Garret was so passionate about his knowledge and the way actual animal behavior is naturally and how mother dogs actually correct their own. How important having an Alpha is to your pet and what we were doing wrong that was the cause of our dogs aggression. It really sucks to be looked at as if we are abusive towards our dog because he did become aggressive. But finding out we contributed to that on no fault to our own knowledge really made us feel better. Knowing his triggers, being able to prevent it before it happens, being able to explain to company in our home how to treat him has lowered our stress immensely. We did board and train for I think three weeks combined. Stryker came back a new man, regressed a little in our own care and routine. But still, even with the changes we’ve been able to continue in day to day our Dog’s behavior is night and day. Not only that we have a place for him if we need to board our reactive dog. He still has triggers with fear based aggression in new environments and strangers. But to have a place that not only accepts him but knows how to communicate with him is such a blessing on our life. There’s only one other person we can trust can take care of Stryker when we leave because he considers this family member a part of his pact and respects them. It just can make life challenging and somewhat embarrassing that we do have a reactive dog when we really spoil and would do anything for Stryker. Also not knowing those kind of things contribute to bad behavior. With all that said, Stryker has benefitted so much and is much more behaved. We are more at ease with how much progress and improvement he’s shown over the years. We of course still have our challenges but the training we consistently do has been life changing. Not only did this help with Stryker, I’ve been able to help friends and family understand their own fur children better. If you’re having trouble with your aggressive dog and really don’t want to give up on them or have to move into a rural Forrest, I highly recommend investing in board and train with Garret and his team. Reading his book and learning how to communicate effectively with your animals. It really is life changing and relieves that stress of it never getting better. This is really the investment to make with your furry family member. I can’t explain enough how much this changed our daily life. I really thought we needed an escape plan if Stryker ever bit someone. I would literally go M.I.A. and live off the grid to protect my fur child. He means that much to us. I know people say don’t compare your pets as children, but for someone who will never have children… this is where all my maternal instincts go. So yea… invest in your pets. They deserve that much.

Edit: Thank you for the condescending response. You didn’t tell us our dog needed to be crated all the time (didn’t say that and we would never do that), you told us if we had company over we would need to separate her from them or risk her biting them. This was on session 6, which is what I’m taking issue with. We prepaid for 6 sessions and it felt like you were just stringing us along after the first two. Our dog literally tried to bite your assistant on our last session and it was just kind of a shoulder shrug on your part. We paid a lot of money for private sessions after Garrett told us that we would be able to accomplish our training goals by doing so. It took until the last session for Garrett to tell us our goals weren’t realistic and our dog would have to be crated in the garage whenever we had company over. (100lb Great Pyr). No behavior change was accomplished after weeks and weeks of training. If you have a dog that is not just misbehaved but truly problematic make sure they don’t sell you on the idea that your dog can be corrected by their program. I’m sure they do great with dogs that don’t walk well on the leash or counter surf when you’re not home but beyond that I would not recommend paying for more than 1 session at a time.

After many years of having older rescue pups, I recently adopted a puppy. A puppy was a whole new territory for me. I felt overwhelmed and he had anxiety issues that I was not prepared for. Garrett’s methodology extends beyond just training your pup to ‘do something.’ His methods emphasize equipping you to develop a common ground of communication and a strong relational bond with your pup. His books were also very helpful with stopping the separation anxiety my puppy had. Their facility is clean and the environment feels calm, secure, and structured. Garrett is extremely knowledgeable and I came away from each session feeling equipped and empowered. I would highly recommend their training program. I look forward to utilizing their boarding services in the future too!

Unfortunately Forest joined our family early pandemic, when socializing was difficult. He was reactive to other dogs and walks were stressful and our adventures limited. Thanks to a referral, from a friend of a friend, we met with Garrett and started training together. His calm snd knowledgeable manner relaxed both of us. It's truly training for both pet and owner. His trained dog assistants gave us an opportunity to learn how to meet other dogs, in a safe manner. We are still a work in progress, but we have the tools to continue moving forward, and know where to return if anything arises in the future.
