How do you get your dog to obey your commands? One of the things that makes our K9 training different is that we not only train your dog but we also show you how YOU can continue to train your dog if you want to take your dog's training a step further. We train your dog how to walk on a leash and we also have off-leash training. (Watch some of our videos on facebook and you'll see actual examples of doggie students practicing their skills.) We also train your dog how to behave when in the presence of other dogs. Imagine walking in a park and you come across another dog. It's important for your dog to have the discipline and understanding of how to behave. And it's important for you to know how to stay in control of the situation. We teach you that as well. This gets into what is sometimes called, "Reactive Dog Training". How does your dog react when in different situations? We go over this and repetition is important. This boarding is for a dog new to Glass City K9 LLC. In other words, those that have not been trained in any of our programs. This is structured so that your doggie stays with us for either one or two weeks and we put them through our popular dog training school. Yes, that’s right! And we provide Unlimited follow up lessons.

Yes, we think so! All of our dog training programs are customized based on the goals of the owner. And some owners want to be more involved with the training process than others and we take factors such as that into consideration as well so your dog gets the training it needs and built around your objectives. And our first step is always a training evaluation, which is free. So, contact us and get your K9 scheduled!
What dog breed is best for me, and how can I find out which breed is best for me?
This is very important because a lot of the issues we see have at least something do to with the client/family having a dog that doesn’t fit their lifestyle. The best way to figure this out is if you go to a breeder research the breed extensively and ask the breeder a lot of questions about the dogs energy/size/temperament, etc. If you plan on rescuing make sure if they know the breed, you do a lot of research on the breed/mix. Also ask the rescue/shelter as many questions as you can, and learn as much as you can about the dog before adopting.
There are hundreds of ways to train a dog, each one of them having some positives and negatives. We use a very balanced approach that revolves around clear communication with your dog. Specifically getting his/her attention in all levels of distractions.
Yes, we offer quick and reliable puppy training services. Don’t hesitate to call us today and we’ll get your puppy the training it deserves. We can start training puppies as early as 8 weeks old. For adult obedience and behavior modification programs, the youngest we can start is 4 months.
This is a very common question, but harder to answer than most people think. We personalize every program we offer to every person, so we don’t have set prices that give each dog the same experience or results. We need to meet you and your dog in order to make sure the program you want/need fits you best!
Some important things to ask your trainer are; How much time commitment should I have? How long have you been training dogs? What methods do you use? MOST important, ask your trainer for before and after videos of dogs in various settings, outside, inside, stores, etc.
Absolutely! Every single dog should be trained. Some more than others for sure, but there is no such thing as a dog that doesn’t need training, except a dog that is already trained!
We use a special type of e-collar. And before it's placed on any dog we put the collar in the hand of the dog owner so they know exactly what it feels like. When aplied correctly it feels like a rubbing motion Most are surprised how gentle it is.
Do you sell german shepherd puppies? Or know someone not outrageous on price?
No, we do not sell dogs and unfortunately, we don't know of anyone selling German Shepherds. You might want to check with local animal shelters and see what they have. Shelter dogs often times turn out to be the very best pets and you can end up saving a lot of money going that route, as well.
It depends on what program you do. All the trainers are great. Well worth the money.

Jazzy, all of our training is customized based on the specific goals of the dog owner. That's why our first step is always a Training Evaluation (which is free). This gives one of our Trainers a chance to meet your dog in person and you can get all of your questions answered as well. (They cover a lot of info so most people have quite a few.) Reactive behavior means that a dog over-reacts to something. It could be when they see another dog, a stranger, etc. This is usually caused by some underlying fear. And dogs that have this type of behavior can be trained - we do it all the time! Also, when a dog goes through training, their confidence increases! The opposite of fear is confidence so as they gain more confidence their fear goes away. So they start to get even faster results from their training. They actually feel better about themselves and they even become more playful. And if they do more advanced training, like learning "tricks", their confidence increases even more and their confidence increases even further! So if you have a dog with reactive behavior, they can even get back the playfulness they had as a puppy!
We train any and all dogs as far as behavioral training. A "service dog" is a dog that has been trained to assist a person who has a disability. Training a dog to function as a service dog is a different type of training. So to be specific, we do NOT train dogs to work as service dogs.

We sent our dog Mack to Glass City K9 as a last ditch effort to get his behavior under control. Over the six years we have had him, he became increasingly aggressive surrounding certain situations and we were at a loss. We had hired other dog trainers but instead of getting better, he increasingly got worse so we had our reservations. We sent Mack for a three week board and train and instead he got to spend five weeks with them at no extra cost to us because he was just not progressing the way they wanted to. Ron was fantastic, giving us updates and being transparent with our situation which we really appreciated, we knew how bad of a situation we were in. Although nervous about picking him up, Ron gave us the tools to transition and was involved every step of the way. If we had questions, he or Dave were always around to walk us through something. After some hard work at home with A LOT of help from Ron and Dave, we finally have our sweet, calm and happy dog back. I am so grateful they never gave up on Mack and our family because we now have the life we always wanted with this little guy. We know they will always be around to help us through our issues which gives us peace of mind. This program sets you and your dog up for success and these people care. You will have to do the work when your pup comes home but they tell you exactly what to do and it works! The Morris family will never own another dog without sending it ASAP to Glass City K9. Thank you to the entire staff for putting up with Mack and never giving up on him!

I have 2 german shepard puppies I needed help training I decided to use glass city k9 and I don't regret it they have changed mine and my dogs and their fur roommates lives I'm so thankful for them I still got alot of work with them but what have now makes me excites to keep working with them for a great future with them

We took our 7 month golden retriever for the 2 week board and train. I was very weary about the price, but I am so glad I did it. It was worth every penny! Junior was great!
