Do you train older dogs?
It is true you can teach an old dog new tricks. I have worked with dogs as old as 7, however, I can work with older dogs as well. Dogs want to learn.

What training methods do you use?
I use only Positive reinforcement methods when I train. I do not use shock, prong or choke chains. All the dogs are treated with love and affection.

Is it okay to play tug of war with my dog?
The short answer is yes. Tug of War is a great energy burner. It does not make your dog a predator. He already is one. It can also help you understand what kind of control you have over your dog.

How does your training work?
We will do an initial 15-minute phone call to determine what exactly you hope to accomplish with training. If you decide to work with us, we will send you a questionnaire to complete. From there, we will determine a training plan. When we meet, we will work with you and your dog. We will demonstrate how to train your dog to do a particular behavior and then observe you practicing with the dog. Between session you will need to spend time practicing the behaviors that were taught that week.

Do you use Shock collars (e-collars) in your training?
No, we use only Science-based Positive reinforcement training. We do not use E-collars, prong collars, or choke collars in our training.

Are Dog training classes worth it?
Think about this. How much does it cost to replace a soiled torn up carpet or having to give up your dog because of their constant barking? Indeed, much more than the cost of dog training. If you follow the trainer’s instructions and practice with your dog, then yes, dog training classes are worth it.

Do you train puppies?
You can begin training your puppy between 6 and 8 weeks old. Or as soon as you get him/her home. Start with potty training and crate or kennel training. From there, we can typically start teaching behaviors such as sit, down, stay, come, and others at about 12 weeks old. The earlier you start, the better.

Nick always arrived early to my in-home training sessions. He made excellent recommendations and answered all of my questions about how to navigate things with my 11-week old puppy. My pup was very receptive to his methods and caught on quickly to new tricks and obedience callings that made our focus targets much smoother. Highly recommend Nick and his training sessions!
