Good Dog Paws

Since meeting Helen, I have always found her to be a kind and thoughtful person. More importantly, I know her to be a knowledgeable and skilled and dog-loving trainer. An outstanding educator, I’ve appreciated her patience when asked to demonstrate a skill numerous times. A lot takes place when learning to train your dog: leash work, proper timing and appropriate reward markers, transferring of “little” steps to reach the big skill. To have a well trained dog takes work. Yes, the dog has to work but truthfully, the handler has a lot to learn as well. If time permitted, I would happily sit at Helen’s feet to listen, observe, and learn. The staff and trainers at Good Dog Paws - unparalleled. Visit after visit, class after class, skill after skill, I’ve watched another Good Dog Paws trainer as she works with the dogs. COMPLETELY UNSOCIALIZED HUMANS - I went here today for a meet and greet. I had texted with Helen and thought she seemed harsh over text but decided to give it a go and hoped for the best, and that maybe there was something lost over text. These people made me feel so small and defeated. Helen especially is the most unkind person I have met in a long time. I was sure they were telling me they wouldn't accept the dog into their school and he was just unsalvageable but then they tried to schedule me for a private lesson after absolutely denigrating me. The whole ride home, our car was silent (I took my partner with me), and I cried when I got home. I called another dog trainer and mentioned we had had a negative experience this morning. I didn't even have to tell her who, she knew from my description that it was this place and says she takes on clients after these people rip them apart all the time. You spend all this time working with dogs, but you've completely forgotten how to talk to your own species. Learn basic human kindness and decency, Helen.
