Gratitude Farms

This is where "Gratitude Farms" went wrong...... I foster and rescue dogs. It's literally the only thing I do in life and I've been through this situation before and am very familiar with the law and 5 day rule. I get it, the law is the law and it's been put in place for a very good reason and to protect those who can't protect themselves. HOWEVER, people make mistakes. I've been contacted by two former families in search of their beloved pets AFTER the 5 day waiting period. In both cases the dogs had already been adopted into loving homes. I took the time to put myself in their shoes and thought about how absolutely DEVOSTATED I would be if those were my little angels with paws and how relentless I would be until I was given answers. At the VERY least, I would want to know they are in safe hands and being loved so I could have closure. So I took the time to meet with these families and thoroughly explain all aspects of the situation then reassure them with photos of their beloved family member running around happy in their new home. This is called BASIC HUMAN DECENCY! Making the feelings of these people a priority, listening to them, and validating their feelings. I'm well aware of how dismissive Animal Control Officers and Animal Control employees, are towards the general public and think it's terrible. The fact that this 'farm' (ran by an animal control officer) can dismiss the concerns and feelings of this devostated family speaks to the moral and ethical character of those who run it. This is a situation that could have EASILY been prevented had 'Gratitude Farms' acknowledged this family with the respect and dignity they deserve and expressed even just the slightest care and compassion towards their feelings as well. This behavior by this Animal Control Officer is extremely disappointing to learn about within the rescue community. I genuinely hope this so called "farm" or whatever it is learns from this experience and makes a conscience decision to raise their moral and ethical standards in the coming future. It's really not that difficult to just BE a DECENT HUMAN BEING. #RestoreFaithInHumanity
