Great Lakes Dog Training Company

My dog was sent here for a 2 week board and train. Unfortunately, she fell ill after a week of being there. They sent her home- we immediately took her to the vet. The diagnosed her with gastrointestinal disease/autoimmune. I contacted Great Lakes, was told I would get a partial refund. This was over a year ago. I have waited very patiently. I reached out multiple times. I never received any refund. I’m heart broken as the dog in question is no longer with us due to said illness and it was horrible through to the end and I’m crushed. I’m really upset about how this all played out. I was completely ghosted by the 2 contacts I had for this company. I was promised it would be resolved.

My boy, Patrick is a bit testy. And had a bad experience at a kennel a few years back. Was recommend to try “Great Lakes” And I can say they are top of their class! The people are kind and actually concerned with the animals they are working with. The atmosphere is always up beat, Patrick absolutely loves his time there. His tail/ stump starts waging as soon as he realizes where he is!! That’s all I need to see! Thanks guys !!!

Our golden retriever Gus has had the pleasure of working with the Pape’s since he was a puppy. 4 weeks of training (2 and 2) and we have been very happy with the results. He currently attends daycare at the new, beautiful West Bloomfield facility. We’ve recommended others to GLDT and will continue to. They truly care about the animals they work with and they are very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!! (Gus agrees!)

Great Lakes Dog Training has been a huge blessing to our family and dogs. We had both our dogs trained here. Our first dog Blue, started his training due to unfortunate circumstances. We were on vacation in another country when the boarding facility that we have always used with him called us to say that we needed to have someone pick him up due to his reactivity. He had not this issue before but luckily I called Jacob and he was able to personally pick up Blue from the facility and put him through their two week program while we enjoyed the rest of our trip. Jacob and Liz were very thorough with his training providing daily updates which gave us peace of mind knowing he was in good care. When we got back, his heel and place command was better than ever and his temperament around guests had improved dramatically by using the training tools and methods that GLDT showed us. Our second dog Bruno did not know how to heel at all and had issues with escaping when the fence was left open and not having a good recall. After his training was complete, his recall had improved dramatically as well as his attentiveness when giving commands. Lastly, we had an incident when the door was left open and we thought Bruno had escaped, only to find that he had jumped in our car and was waiting for us patiently which we were relieved to see. This shows a big change in his behavior and we were glad to see the training paying off. I would highly recommend GLDT services to anyone who is looking to improve their relationship with their dog and be able to communicate in a way the dog understands. A big part of dog training is also training the human to communicate with their dog and GLDT does a great job of answering questions and showing methods to give you the best chance of success with your pet.
