I originally left a review for Great Lakes Dog Training after our first training experience, which was absolutely AMAZING, but I’m back months later to follow up because the experience has continued to exceed expectations. When we signed up, there were a lot of promises: unlimited follow-up support, retraining sessions at home if needed, and the ability to reach out any time with questions. Normally, I’d be skeptical of such generous after-the-fact offers, but with Great Lakes Dog Training, there’s no need for doubt. They’ve followed through on everything, and their continued support has been just as incredible as the initial training. Months after the first session, our 164 lb “little guy” (an anxious mastiff) needed a refresher. Anthony (his original trainer) came back out, listened to all of our concerns, and helped get him (us) back on track. He was kind, attentive, and genuinely committed to helping both us and our dog succeed. There have also been countless smaller moments over time where their team has been eager to help, always going the extra mile. I truly can’t recommend this place, and Anthony in particular, enough. They’ve helped ease the anxiety of a very large, very sweet dog, and we’re so grateful. Thank you all so very much!

I recommend GL Dog Training to anyone seeking quality training that yields lasting results. I recently enrolled my 8 month old German Shepherd in the 2 week board and train program. Anyone with this breed understands the challenges that go with owning one. I was struggling and often felt defeated. While it was hard to be separated from him for that long, the results of the board n train were/are totally worth it, as well as the cost. My boy's behavior has dramatically improved. He obeys commands and his overall manners are great for a high energy pup of this breed. I'm better, too, as a furmom; at the end of the program, I had to go through some training as well, which I appreciated so that the tools learned would be sustainable. As a result, walks are better, car rides are calm, people are less fearful of visiting, and my ability to work (from home) in peace now exists. We continue to practice and train daily, so dont expect the trainers to do all the work and you get your dog back and magic happens permanently--you have to consistently reinforce! My boy took very well to Aaron, his primary trainer. Aaron sent me daily report cards with pics, along with video so that I could see for myself what my pup's training looked like as well as learn how he was doing. Aaron treated my boy like his own. I take my pup here for periodic daycare as well, and he seems to enjoy it. The dogs get exercise and training--they aren't just locked in crates all day; I know this because there have been several times I've pulled up to the Ferndale site and saw staff walking the dogs. The staff have consistently been professional and kind to us, and I believe they train with care. Other shout outs include Anthony (my pup's first trainer) and Katie, who took time at all hours of day and night to promptly respond to my many questions. She helped put me at ease. Thank you guys!
