Green Mountain K9 Dog Training | Swanzey

I finished my 8 week course with Mark (Concord, NH) in early May and I am more than satisfied! My boy Rabble is a very high drive dog (GSD/Mal/Pit mix) and I was struggling with reactivity towards my roommate and poor leash manners. He is a completely different dog after 8 sessions with Mark. Walks nicely on the leash, his confidence is much higher, and now he only wants pets from my roommate. Mark is friendly and educated, vigilant in keeping your dog safe and never fails to turn a surprise - like a cat while you're training offleash - into a training moment. He came to my home, so you can't beat that convenience. Can't recommend Mark enough!

Had an amazing experience with Chris! We boarded both our working line German Shepherd and our Cane Corso with him. The facility was clean and set up to handle our large dogs. Chris really knows what he’s doing and it’s evident that he has a passion for animals. He was able to expertly handle our shepherd and kept us updated on their stay. Our dogs have a special diet and he was very accommodating to it. Having Chris, his facility and expertise allowed us to travel with zero worries over the weekend. Will absolutely be using him again!

When we first got Millie we wanted to get her into training right away. We were sold on Chris and Green Mountain K9 after reading all of the reviews - but we were so impressed with the all of the progress she made over just 8 weeks! She is a completely different pup and has so much more freedom being able to be off leash! This training was exactly what we wanted and what Millie needed! 100% recommend Chris at Green Mountain K9 - absolutely worth it! Despite what some people may think - I was not paid to write this review 😂 Thanks again for everything Chris!

I will transparently say that we were really on the fence about this training. Before we signed up, we spent a LOT of time reading Chris' reviews, which was ultimately what convinced us to try it. I do believe in positive training and I think it did a lot of good for our dog, especially as a puppy. I don't think the e-collar/prong is right for every dog, and I stand by that. That being said, if you are starting to feel like this might be the right option for you and your dog, it probably is. Our dog Ash had been historically energetic but friendly, but after the pandemic, was more guarded and territorial of our space (and us). He was barking at people much more, pulling and lunging on leash, and even snapping at people. We felt less and less comfortable bringing him places, and that only exacerbated his frustration, pent up energy, and lack of socialization. We tried further "purely positive" training, and despite months of working on it, didn't see any improvement (or any less stress from us). Our dog was smart enough to still feel like he had choice between the tiny bites of steak/hotdog/cheese and reacting to what was in front of him. We wanted to eliminate that sense of choice - for his anxiety, and for ours. It was hard to watch Ash learn how the e-collar worked, but now the "nicks" are really about untethered communication and not punishment or dominance. We absolutely tried the collar on ourselves before using it on our dog, and 90% of the time we're operating at such a low level that it feels like a tickle. Every time I question if this was the right move, or if we are somehow hurting our dog in a way I'm not understanding, I look at Ash. He is SO much happier to be out and about with us, playing long games of fetch (an unexpected and welcome outcome!), and being taken on walks - even in crowded places. I think that if I were to ask Ash if he preferred the stress, avoidance, and tiny pieces of steak, or the new freedom of the e-collar, he would choose the e-collar every time. No question. Being able to keep him off leash most of the time means he is completely exhausted at the end of every day. If you're on the fence about this, but you think it would improve your dog's quality of life, do it.
