Guiding Canines

Guiding Canines is the only training service I'll recommend to friends and family. Val and Caleb are awesome. You can tell right away they have a lot of experience and really understand dog behavior - not just how to correct reactions or symptoms, but how to address the root of the issue. They worked wonders with one of our dogs, Callie. She’s honestly a "different" dog since finishing their board and train program, which they specialized to focus on her anxiety, reactivity to vehicles, heeling during walks, and general behavior. And they trained us - how to recognize and correct behaviors - which is key to sustaining training. We can now enjoy walks with our dog and time in the yard, all while trusting she'll stay close by and not react to distractions. What really stands out is that they don’t disappear after training. They’ve continued to check in and offer advice whenever we need it. That kind of support goes a long way. Highly recommend them if you’re serious about making real progress with your dog.

We worked with Guiding Canines for both private lessons and a 6-week board and train for our 1-year-old German Shepherd, Callie, and the results have been incredible! Before training, Callie struggled with leash pulling, anxiety, reactivity to cars and noises, and overall obedience. She was very high-energy and difficult to manage, which made daily life stressful—especially with a baby on the way. After training, the transformation has been night and day. She still has her energetic personality, but now she listens, follows commands on and off leash, and we can confidently take her out in public. Val and Caleb are knowledgeable, patient, and extremely responsive. They take the time to explain and demonstrate everything clearly and make sure you feel confident continuing the training at home. We’ve always felt supported and equipped with the right tools. Highly recommend them for anyone, especially those with high-energy or working breeds who need structure and guidance.

We cannot thank Guiding Canines enough for their help with our Frankie girl! We did the 4 week board and train to work on resource guarding with our Great Pyrenees and Val and her husband, Caleb, were amazing! They worked tirelessly with our girl, sent frequent pictures and updates, and treated her like one of their own. They were great about working on training in different environments as well…out in public at stores, at the park, in their home, to expose the dogs to different situations. We really appreciate all the hard work and training, as well as the feedback they gave us and tips/tools to work on at home. We are continuing to implement the training they started, and have seen a ton of progress with Frankie! Val is also very responsive, and continues to answer any additional questions we have, even after the conclusion of the board and train. 10/10 highly recommend Guiding Canines!
