Updated 5/24/25: It’s been a year ago this weekend since I first dropped off my dog for training. I am happy to say the entire experience has truly been life changing for both my dog and myself. Since graduating from the training program a year ago, Gracie is now a regular attendee at their daycare program where she continues to socialize with other dogs and build upon the tools she was taught during her training. She looks forward to going every week. Not to mention, on the occasion I need to travel out of town, I have complete peace of mind when she stays overnight for boarding. It is not an overstatement when I say Michael and Jocelyn are incredible people and the additional trainers and staff are top notch. Plus their new expanded location is the perfect place for your pup to play. Wow where do I begin? Let me start with the team at Hakuna Matata led by Michael and Joselyn. From our very first interactions through present day everyone at Hakuna Matata has been amazing. From the Board and Train program to Daycare to Boarding the entire process is transparent, easy and trustworthy. Now let’s talk about the Board and Train Program, which has completely changed the quality of life for my Rottie pup. The dog that began that program was fearful of humans and other dogs and showed aggressive behavior in any situation that she was not comfortable. The dog that graduated from that program two weeks later is curious, confident looks forward to playing with other dogs and meeting new people. She and I have worked together (along with Michael) to understand basic commands, we have the tools to deal with all types of situations and can go for walks in the neighborhood without fear of altercations with any bypassing dogs. I cannot say enough about Michael’s ability as a trainer. Not only did my dog respond to him well but he also took the time (hours actually) to explain things to me ensuring that I felt confident to continue training at home. I will be a client for life and will refer all my friends and family looking to make their dogs the best versions of themselves possible.

Hakuna Matata Dog Training has been a game-changer for our 9-month-old pup! Mike and the team did an amazing job helping our naturally hyper dog become noticeably calmer and much more obedient. His heel work and ability to walk beside us have improved significantly, and his responsiveness to commands is night and day. Socialization was a huge focus, and it was so rewarding to see him playing respectfully with other dogs — something we weren’t sure was possible just a few months ago. The regular updates and videos from Mike made us feel connected to the process every step of the way. We now have a happier, more confident dog thanks to HK. Highly recommend this team if you’re looking for real, lasting results!

I can't say enough good things about sending my pup Hudson to Hakuna Matata's two-week board and train program. Honestly, it's been a game-changer for us. Michael and Joselyn run an incredible operation, and their whole team just gets it when it comes to both dogs and customer service. The communication throughout was what really sold me. Every few days, I'd get these updates with photos and videos showing how my dog was doing. Michael spent so much time on the phone with me - like, way more than I expected - answering all my worried dog-parent questions. Joselyn is lightning-fast with responses to my texts, which meant a lot when I was missing my furry friend or had a question about billing or logistics. Something that impressed me was watching how their staff worked together. Everyone's constantly in touch over radio, making sure all dogs are accounted for and staying safe. It's like a well-oiled machine, but with genuine love for the animals. My dog came home confident, happier, and listening to commands! The best part was that they didn't just hand him back and say "good luck." They actually brought him back home and took time to show me everything they'd taught him so I could keep up with training at home. Their approach strikes that great balance between discipline and positive reinforcement. You can tell everyone there truly loves dogs and believes in their "happy dogs, happy homes" philosophy. We will definitely be taking Hudson back for boarding and doggy day care. Worth every penny, and then some. If you're on the fence about dog training, just call them already!

Mike and Joselyn and their team at Hakuna Matata are fabulous. I was really struggling with my 9m old puppy and their training made a huge difference for our family. I have since used them for boarding too and Leo comes home tired and happy and I have peace of mind knowing he is being well taken care of. He also gets training reinforced while boarding!
