Happy Tails Learning Center for Dogs

I waited a year and a half to post this review. I wanted to give myself plenty of time to think about it and also ponder the feedback we received from Kate, even though I realized rather quickly she was very wrong. We took our puppy to the Puppy Development course in February 2025. The first two classes we were asked to go sit in another room, alone, because our “loud” dog was too much of a distraction to the others but not to worry because “it’s what’s best for him” and “not to be embarrassed”. Also, he’s a Husky mix so… We were finally welcomed back into the group on the second session for the last half hour or so. This is when Kate went around the room and asked each dog parent to say one thing we dream of doing with their dog. Some people said to go camping others said walk their dog off leash. I said that I’d love to sit at a coffee shop with mine. After we went around the room, she said, “ALL of these are attainable except for one”, mine, because my dog just “wasn’t that kind of dog”. I have posted some nice pics of him out and about around town, including, you guessed it, coffee shops. Koko is nothing but sweet, polite, friendly and very funny! She made other nasty comments but that’s neither here nor there - it just solidified what kind of person she is. Hopefully she gets trained on kindness.

We couldn't be happier with Claire. She struck the perfect balance of being loving and patient while remaining firm and consistent. Our puppy responded beautifully to her positive approach. In a short time, we saw amazing results, better manners, reliable commands, and a calmer dog. Sessions were effective, encouraging and tailored to our puppy's needs. If you're looking for a skilled caring trainer who delivers real progress, Claire is excellent.

So very grateful for Happy Tails. After always having herding dogs I foster failed a pitty mix named Twig. He was confiscated from an abuse case when he was approximately 6 months old. As time went on I realized how I was not used to having a whole different breed. Twig started to become super pushy, very stubborn, and was really mouthy, he started to run the house hold. Once he started leaving marks on mine and my parents arms, and ripping sweatshirt sleeves I was worried what his future would be. I felt like I failed him. Twig was paired with trainer Chris. During the consultation he fell asleep right next to him which was a great sign coming from a dog who was fearful of men. I left the consultation feeling like there was hope after I had gone months thinking I would have to make a tough decision. We started private lessons and learned so much. I was never once made to feel shamed for Twig's issues, or embarrassed. Chris was always very confident and accommodating with Twig, always made sure to give Twig time for love and pets during the session which Twig loved, and made training fun. He thoroughly explained everything and always answered my many questions. Even if it meant me sending questions as a text at random times. Each time I would leave a training session I felt more and more confident. The healthy bond it created between me and Twig was amazing. I felt like such a proud mother! It has been a world of a difference with Twig. He doesn't rule the house hold anymore, I have become so confident with him, and became his advocate. He hasn't attempted to get mouthy in forever. The training collar has helped so much. I was so worried about them before going to Happy Tails, but left the consultation realizing all of the benefits, it has given Twig so much freedom and has made a huge positive impact on his and our lives. Twig gets so happy every morning putting his collar on! I can't say enough great things about my experience at Happy Tails, me and my parents are SO greatful to Chris and Happy Tails. Not only is the training great but Twig now has a place that I feel completely comfortable and safe boarding him at❤️ I wish I had gone to Happy Tails with every dog I've owned!
