While a great boy overall, our 3.5 year old cockapoo Henry had some behavioral problems that needed to be a addressed which lead me to hiring a dog trainer. Henry was having a lot of trouble on walks, regularly barking and lunging at other dogs. I desperately tried various techniques I read about in books and the internet in an attempt to correct the behavior, but none of these created lasting change. Walks had become miserable for both of us by the time I reached out to HD Training. Over 8 weeks, we worked with Ryan to develop Henry’s skill set – learning key commands and building duration of those commands so that Henry became more interested in following our direction than in the distractions around him (other dogs, people, etc). He went from an insecure, anxious pup to one who now happily walks besides me and can pass by other dogs without full on aggression. The night we graduated from training, we sat at an outdoor restaurant and Henry laid at my feet. With the techniques we learned from Ryan, I was able to capture Henry’s attention and help him ignore the many dogs that passed by us. We finished training in July and continue to use these strategies every day to help Henry retain these skills and even improve upon what we learned. It’s a constant but enjoyable work in progress. I’m so grateful to Ryan for the changes we were able to implement and for helping me better communicate with my dog. Ryan’s professionalism was noted from our initial meeting where we identified our goals to the weekly sessions where he showed up timely and utilized our full session on training. He was available throughout the week via text message to answer questions or review training videos I sent. I would highly recommend his services if you are considering hiring a trainer. Rob was able to work with me and my 10 year old rescue through every obstacle. Walking Lola used to be something I dreaded, but Rob understood Lola’s pulling, reactivity to other dogs, and lunging at bikes and scooters. He was able to talk me through the process of what to expect, anticipated Lola's response to training, and altered his methods to what worked best for us. I feel so much more confident as a dog owner now and owe a lot of that to training with Rob. Training transformed my relationship with Lola more than I ever thought it could!

Rob at HD Dog Training really helped us to manage our new rescue pup. What was especially great was providing us with the right techniques to correct bad behavior and reinforce good behaviors. We met weekly and the steady, incremental improvement was obvious from week to week. I appreciate the way that the lessons were tailored to our dog and tailored to us humans too! Recommend, 5 stars, would train again.
