Hendersonville Dog Training

Nick did a great job unlocking our dog's potential. We went from having a very inconsistent behavior situation to one where we are finally speaking the same language. With a 75 lb puppy, that is essential! During the training period, Nick did a great job communicating Blue's progress by posting lots of videos, pictures and sending text updates. We have a Goldendoodle/Labrador/Dalmation/mixed terrier pup. We decided to look for professional help when she was between 4-5 months old because she was starting to develop some bad habits, like jumping and biting on people. Namely us! While she was totally playful, she was basically treating us like litter mates, constantly. She was wild! I started calling her my little terrorist. With Nick's help she has become a fairly well-behaved pup. She is a pup after all, so she is a work in progress. He started with a with a free evaluation visit, which lasted about an hour. He put her on a leash and took her on the street to see how she'd do. He asked about our goals. One of our goals is to have her walk without dragging us down the street. On his first visit, he started with walking and showed us how to work with her. All of is visits focused on the dog - person unit, training us to work with her, so we could continue her training on our own. He was so patient, kind and extremely calm. Believe me, this pup, like any pup, can test your nerves, but after working with Nick, she is so much more responsive to both of us. She actually comes when called and doesn't walk us. She walks WITH us. She's even pretty good about "dropping" things she shouldn't be chewing when we give the command. On top of all of this, Nick saved us a vet visit. On one of his visits he had just arrived when Lily started showing signs of distress. She was pawing at her face, coughing and shaking her head. We struggled to get a hold of her. Nick was able to reach into her mouth and pull out a stick that was lodged in the top of her mouth and stuck in her teeth! So yes, DEFINITELY give him a call!!! He's a great guy and definitely has a way with dogs, and their owners!

Before Nick started training my German Shepherd puppy, she was very disobedient and would jump on everyone, playfully, to include my 3 year old, who she outweighed by 30 pounds, and chew everything she could get in her mouth. Nick would drive to Asheville and spend a couple hours on Fridays with me and my dog, and within 4 Fridays of this training, about 6-8 hours total, my dog does not jump on everyone, comes on command, stays in place until told to get off, does not jump on my couches or destroys anything inside the house anymore. If she needs to be crated, its almost as if she is not there, which is a huge step up. Most importantly, I can take my dog on walks now without having to worry about her pulling me in every direction and she is very friendly with other people and dogs since we like to go to the park a lot. Thanks to Nick, my wife now LOVES the dog which is very important, specially when you bring it home and she was unaware haha. I gave Nick 5 stars but if I could give him 9 or 10 I would. Oh, and he is very well priced for the time, effort and commitment he gives to the dogs and training tips for the owners. He is always one call away from helping you over the phone at the very least.

Nick has changed my two dogs! He is so good with dogs AND the owner! ; ) Seriously, Calvin and Hobbes stayed with him for 14 days and have come back very well behaved, trained dogs. At first I was worried about the e-collar, but when Nick talked to me about how he uses it, it made sense. My dogs came back well-trained. The e-collar, when used responsibly and for training purposes is the way to go. Again, I was skeptical, but I was lucky to find a dog trainer who cares about dogs, treats them with respect and care, and works incredibly hard to ensure the owner is happy and informed. Nick spent almost 2hrs with me when he brought them back to my home. That was amazing! He made sure I was comfortable and felt good about how to use the e-collar and giving commands. He also was quite patient with me and I practiced with my dogs. I HIGHLY recommend Nick and Hendersonville Dog Training!
