Hillside K9 Academy

I did some searching before choosing Hillside to train my labradoodle, Kira. Hillside is slightly more expensive than others, but I chose them because of their methods, It was more what I was looking for and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Before bringing her there I couldn’t walk down the street with her, but after our second session, we were “on the road”. Shawn was great, he knew how to get the best out of my dog. The training will continue, of course, but we now have a happy home. Thank you Hillside!

My family and I needed help with our two English labrador retrievers this included obedience training and overall training we did our research thoroughly and came across expert trainer Shawn from Hillside K9 Academy! What can one say about expert trainer Shawn? Well, he is simply first-rate, the BEST top notch dog trainer in all aspects of dog training including security and obedience to name a few. Shawn comes with a plethora of top-notch experience ! We truly have different dogs now after Top trainer Shawn trained them . Our treasures are beyond obedient, intelligent , loving and overall well-balanced we could not thank Shawn enough for his simply extraordinary training. Our dogs Gemma and Cleo are our family and we care about them like our children so it was essential we have the best of the best and yes it’s crème de la crème with the kindest hearted person, most knowledgeable and professional trainer in Shawn including his first rate staff of Jules and Tammy!

We took out 3 month old puppy Dooley to Shawn for two week boot camp training. The problems we had with Dooley were biting, walking him and general miss behaving. Dooley was 30+ lbs. at 3 months and we expressed our concerns to Shawn to be able to handle him when he is full grown. We went to pick up Dooley at end of two weeks. Shawn spend over 2 hrs. explaining all the commands and how to continue the training. Then he brought Dooley out and we worked with Dooley for another hr. It was like night and day. Dooley behaved so well we could walk him, without him pulling on leash, he would sit and stay. We are continuing the training at home and go to Shawn’s training center every Saturday for las three weeks. Thanks to Shawn we have a great puppy and he knows 10 different voice commands and it’s a pleasure to take Dooley for a walk. In short I committed to a once a week , 8 week class for one of my dogs. 50% down and 50% at the third class I think . I arrived for the third class and was happy with the trainer I worked with, who no longer works there. I paid the second half due at that time. When I returned for my fourth class I was awkwardly approached by two people I had never seen there. They did not make me comfortable at all and it was as if it was another class one, a meet and greet with no training whatsoever. The guy tugged my dog around a bit, the girl was silent and invisible pretty much. No confidence gained here. When I asked about the girl I’d been working with, they said she had something else to do. That’s odd something else to do for four more classes I thought??? Yeah bs and lies. So after a week and a half I called the clinic and told them I would not return and did not appreciate the lack of communication or honesty. I didn’t like that they encouraged me to starve my dog for a weekend and then feed him one kibble after a time, for any reason. I asked about any possible refund, I believe I was speaking to an owner that said “I’ll call you back”. Not we, not my boss ...... I! Never got a call no refund this place is a sham, con artists at best.
