Which training plan is more effective?
Both training plans are very effective; it all just depends on how involved in the training you would like to be. Private training you’re involved in the entire training process and day training we take care of most of the training process for you. Then at pick up we will show you what we have done.
We can start in home Private dog training at anytime. If you wanted to do any in facility training with your pup. They must be at least 4 months of age!
We are balanced trainers so we use all four quadrants of Operant Conditioning (positive reinforcement, positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment.) and Classical Conditioning (a process that involves creating an association between a naturally existing stimulus and a previously neutral one). We start with the least invasive methods and only go more invasive as needed and with owner approval.

Monica is the head trainer at Idaho K9 Academy and did a truly excellent job with our 18 week old Labrador, Riley. The most helpful skill I’ve appreciated was Monica working on barking - our puppy is happily crated at home and won’t make a peep. Monica helped nail down basic commands like place, leave it, etc. and helped navigate difficulties with leash work. Riley also had the opportunity to play with another puppy which was very helpful for socialization at a young age.
It’s been a couple of months since our time at Idaho k9, we’ve continued practicing the skills learned and feel the training program was worth every penny.

Our little dramatic rescue dog came to us with a few bad habits. In her time with Monica, she learned many new skills to interact with the world around her with good manners.
Monica spends time listening to the areas of success/struggles the dog is going through, so she can provide tips and training for the dog's specific needs.
She also clearly just loves dogs and knows the gentle training methods that they respond to. Our dog would do anything for her!

We had an amazing experience with Monica. She spent extra time explaining and demonstrating what our dog learned everyday he went to training! She gave us suggestions of toys to keep his mind stimulated and has even spent time outside of training talking to me about behaviors that we weren’t sure about! My dog loved her! Monica did an outstanding job in the Basic Training Course for our two year old Doberman. Her communication was great and it was obvious from our first encounter that she loved dogs and had a wonderful ability to effectively convey the information to both our dog and to us to make the training go well. In just 5 weeks, our very energetic dog is significantly better at doing what he needs to do. We would highly recommend Monica and Idaho K9 Academy to anyone looking for help with training.
