FirstBarkWe trained our German Shepherd with Robert and it has helped his confidence so much! He was having reactive issues in public and Robert gave both him and us the knowledge and confidence to subside it.

Which training plan is more effective?
Both training plans are very effective; it all just depends on how involved in the training you would like to be. Private training you’re involved in the entire training process and day training we take care of most of the training process for you. Then at pick up we will show you what we have done.

How old does my dog have to be to start training?
We can start in home Private dog training at anytime. If you wanted to do any in facility training with your pup. They must be at least 4 months of age!

What training methods do you use?
We are balanced trainers so we use all four quadrants of Operant Conditioning (positive reinforcement, positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment.) and Classical Conditioning (a process that involves creating an association between a naturally existing stimulus and a previously neutral one). We start with the least invasive methods and only go more invasive as needed and with owner approval.

Robert was great with our two 6 year old Labs. They have learned to listen and are much calmer. I’m extra excited that they can “place” and relax! It was a great experience for them and worth every penny! Thank you Robert and Idaho K9 Academy!

Idaho K9 Academy was absolutely amazing. We were on the brink of having to re-home our Border Collie mix, but with the expert training of our dog, and education for us on how to continue and reinforce her new skills at home, we have the tools and knowledge to help Mabel be the best girl she can be. Robert was amazing, even coming in early and staying late a couple days to facilitate a new work schedule, all because he was dedicated to Mabel’s progress and didn't want us to have to skip a week. All of that should be enough, but because I am prior military, I was even given a significant discount due to a program they have in place. It could not have been a better experience.
Tilly is 5 months old and was pretty unsure of herself. Makayla did an amazing job with her. She was patient and consistent. I had trouble getting her to sit and come. She sits, lays down, stays and heels. Makayla told me she loves the flirt stick, so I bought one. We both loves it!! I would go through K9 Academy again.

We adopted Kiara from the shelter. She was 9 months old when we met her. Honestly, we were not prepared nor did we know how difficult it would be to work with her. She was unsocialized, scared of everyone, and unpredictable. She was also impossible to walk. Frankly, I was stressed every day, and we really didn't know if we were going to be able to keep her. I had never owned a reactive dog before and didn't know if we were the right fit for her. We decided to give her (and us!) another chance and took her to K9 Academy. We enrolled her in the five week basic obedience course. Rob and Makayla were fantastic. By the end of the course, Kiara was a different dog. We can walk her now, she's way more obedient, and she's becoming more socialized. Walking her used to be a stressful experience, but now I take every opportunity to take her out. When she used to see people she would start barking and get scared - now she's excited. She still has a long way to go, but Rob and Makayla made it possible for Kiara to live better. We'll definitely continue going to K9 Academy for future classes. They taught Kiara AND us. ❤️
