FirstBarkWe really enjoyed our experience with Robert and the Idaho K9 Academy. Robert was kind and patient with my dog. We were taught how to work with her at home as well, so she continued to learn and practice at home. The skills she learned help in our daily life with her as well as when we are out in the community. I would recommend the Idaho K9 Academy to anyone seeking training for their dog.

Which training plan is more effective?
Both training plans are very effective; it all just depends on how involved in the training you would like to be. Private training you’re involved in the entire training process and day training we take care of most of the training process for you. Then at pick up we will show you what we have done.

How old does my dog have to be to start training?
We can start in home Private dog training at anytime. If you wanted to do any in facility training with your pup. They must be at least 4 months of age!

What training methods do you use?
We are balanced trainers so we use all four quadrants of Operant Conditioning (positive reinforcement, positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment.) and Classical Conditioning (a process that involves creating an association between a naturally existing stimulus and a previously neutral one). We start with the least invasive methods and only go more invasive as needed and with owner approval.

I recently put my newly adopted 3 yr old Cane Corso Mastiff through Idaho K9s 5 week dog obedience course and I can't thank Robert enough for the wonders he worked with her. Deja came to me with some pretty bad habits and very wary of men. Although she bonded to me quickly once I brought her home, she wasnt listening to me or respecting my lead. She took to Robert right away and was so excited to see him each week. He takes the time to go over what he worked on with your pup at the end of each session and demonstrates the commands. I am amazed at how quickly my girl picked up his instruction. You definitely need to keep up the training at home, but the foundation is solid after completion of the course. Today I took Deja back for a little tune up session and she did amazing and was excited to be back. I would say Robert is a true dog whisperer.
Robert had Buddy for 5 sessions and what he was able to do with Buddy was amazing. After each session he would then teach me and have me demonstrate the process. Buddy is a bit of a distracted dog and also wants to quit when he feels like it, Robert showed me how to stop Buddy from creating some bad behaviors! Excellent! Will send him to the next level once Buddy is old enough.
We are so grateful for Robert and his incredible work he’s done with our pup! His patience and expertise made a world of difference. Not only did he help improve our dog’s behavior, but he also gave us the tools and confidence to continue the training at home. I highly recommend Robert to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring trainer!

I would highly recommend K-9 Academy, and Robert specifically, for any dog training needs you may have. Robert truly cares about the dogs left in his care, and treats them with kindness and respect for their breed, age group, and any special needs or personality quirks one might have. Thank you so much, Robert. I feel confident in working with Whiskey at home with the skills you have taught me, and you have given him a wonderful jump start into being an obedient and respectful dog. 🐶
